Don't watch the Saints lose all by yourself this Sunday. Come out to the Broadside and enjoy some great Cajun music and good company with the game on in the background! I'll be on the drums - would love to see you there!

Holy shit! This is what courage looks like. The American people are increasingly standing up to Trump's ICE Gestapo to protect their fellow brothers and sisters. 🙌💪👏👊🇺🇸👇

Last week at #ire25 I told fellow reporters to write off of documents — and to implore editors to greenlight these stories, even without family narrative, because it opens the door. We published this story this morning and have already been contacted by a family who experienced the same thing.

This is really cool from @sophiasgaler.bsky.social - a new app that helps you quickly translate longform work into snappy video content. I just tried it out and it was simple and intuitive to use.

What if journalists could beat misinformation by using the same tactics as influencers? Until now, only a few could - but today, many more will be able to (!). I’m so proud to share that Sophiana, my video-scripting app, has launched on the App Store.

Who/Whom If you can answer the question with "him" then you use ‘whom.’ --> they both end in ‘m’. If you can answer the question with “he,” use ‘who.’ -Whom are you going to the concert with? -I'm going with him. -Who broke the toaster? -He did.

In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court allows Trump to deport migrants to countries they have never lived in, including places where they will likely be tortured. “I cannot join so gross an abuse of this Court’s equitable discretion,” writes Justice Sotomayor in a blistering dissent.

My serious expression belies the joy I experienced playing live music again last night after a break of several months. A lovely wedding reception in Ruston, Louisiana, with a buffet featuring the best loaded mashed potatoes you ever tasted. What have you done lately that brought you joy?

Donald Trump, a weak and dangerously reckless president, has put the United States on a path to a war in the Middle East that the country does not want, the law does not allow, and our security does not demand.

Maybe if we could all unfollow and not retweet all the progressive "influencers," the semi-famous folks whose job seems to be posting about politics 127 times a day. I'm trying.

to me the biggest problem with bluesky is that politics dominates this place. that makes sense, i assume most of us left twitter for political reasons. but there's not enough chat about other things on here. there used to be, but not anymore. you get a little of the old twitter on big sports nights

It is weird and fascinating to read a longform piece about my hometown (Jena, Louisiana) and its notable role in the current immigration landscape. I haven't felt welcome there in a long time, largely my own fault for "running my mouth." That sorta thing is frowned upon. slate.com/business/202...

Juneteenth reminds us: Nobody’s free until everybody’s free. In 1865, freedom reached Black Texans, last delayed by white supremacy and greed. Today, we recommit to the fight for justice, equity, and liberation. #Juneteenth #LiberationDay #VeteransForJustice

I had a conversation today with a moderate Republican with an advanced degree who is a practicing Christian, someone I went to college with over 20 years ago. Talking to her about current events reminded me of the extent to which we live in very different worlds depending on the media we consume.

If pulling a fire alarm to get out of a bad budget vote gets you censured, charged with a misdemeanor, and loss of your party’s support, what does pulling an “evacuate Tehran” to get out of nobody liking you at the G7 get you?

omg duh, y'all. Do YOU stay at a party for very long if you think all the other people there don't like you?

Chris Hayes@chrislhayes.bsky.social

Seems at least a possibility worth considering that Trump is just bored and annoyed at having to be at the G7 and wants to go home.

Jack and I went to Memphis recently. We explored downtown incl the Civil Rights Museum and the big pyramid, and of course we went to Graceland. I cherish these trips and am very grateful to be his dad. Happy Father's Day to all the men who strive to be a loving presence and a positive example!

Damn, y'all.

Top stories of today: 1. Political assassination in Minnesota by Christian nationalist Trump supporter 2. Millions take to the street to oppose Trump and fascism 3. War continues between Israel and Iran with US more or less sidelined 4. Minor unrest in LA contained by local police That's it.

Just incredible the scale of peaceful rallies today in the midst of all the tensions and chaos Trump has deliberately stoked. No matter how much Trump and those who share his authoritarian desires create mayhem and conflict, the American people still showed up at our patriotic best. #NoKings

This is all pretty interesting/disturbing. But the larger picture is, as usual, individual acts of stochastic violence are not the product of political ideology but instead result from social alienation and paranoia.
