In case you’re blessed by the ignorance; the idea is that a child might inherit not after their father, but after another man who the woman slept with before.

It was illustrated with an anecdote about a white woman who married a white man and gave birth to a black child because she used to have a black bf before marriage. There was no names and of course the obvious possible explanation to this phenomenon wasn’t considered at all.

So, with respect to the yesterday’s eMudhra compromised certificate: their private keys had all zeros after 8th bit. So one of the secret numbers was 4. All of the others were under 256 too. I assume this to be stupidity though we do have a history of the encryption being undermined deliberately

The details are now public, as of two hours ago. bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi... The secret P-384 keys for these intermediate CAs are all zeros except the last 8 bits. All not-updated software can be MITM'ed now. IOT boxes that can't or don't update are now trivially MITM'able forever.
