There’s something deeply ironic that a billionaire, who sponsored the destruction of a historic building owned by the people, went to his personal newspaper to create propaganda to justify said destruction with semi-intellectualism and white washing all to appear as a “man of the people”
Jordy created a website where visitors can contribute $35 to “provide an inflatable costume for a True American.™”
He initially hoped to collect enough to buy a couple dozen suits.

After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.
A post just for @timmiller.bsky.social - who I absolutely adore and look forward to listening to every week - as I listened to todays Next Level pod, while I agree with *everything else* you said about online culture, mental health, binary choices etc, there was one point that had me struggling…
As a suburban white lady with a penchant for true crime, there is decades worth of precedent of both the FBI and local police falsifying evidence and testimony, even with all the witnesses being present. There are several dozen of small and large cases where they’ve done this, even recent ones.
There’s entire courses in criminal justice classes about this, which evidence is easier to falsify and which isn’t. The percent of this happening is practically their entire brand.
Otherwise - 100% on board and I love the pod 😬
For the record.
My posts were not even about Kirk directly, but about America's apathy towards political violence, and the coddling of white male shooters and hate peddlers.

This morning, ICE rolled into a Home Depot parking lot using a moving truck loaded w/agents, like a Trojan horse, to snatch up Latino workers. Whoever they could find. No idea if they were undocumented or not.
That’s not enforcement. That’s racial profiling, and violates a standing court order.
In 2016, Ghislaine Maxwell falsely stated, under oath, that she was not aware that Jeffrey Epstein recruited underage girls for sex (you know, the ones she was actually recruiting on his behalf). She was charged with two counts of perjury for this.
Remind me why we give a shit what she says now?
Newsflash, Wannabe Dictator:
I don’t care how many times you shake the Etch A Sketch trying to redraw these lines. I’m not disappearing.
I’ll be back, still on your behind every step of the way. (1/2)
Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good.
I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.
The next part of the plan to steal the midterms and/or the 2028 election - an attempt to do a mid-decade census to take seats and electoral votes away from blue states. I knew this was coming.
Meiselas: First off—people who are alpha don’t go around calling themselves alpha.
Look, where I grew up, my dad would say: Being a man means standing by your word.
Being a man means you push back against the bully, and you uplift people. You don’t punch down at marginalized communities.
ICE agents are evidently miserable. Good. They should all quit. If they don't, they're signaling that their love of kidnapping people and throwing them into concentration camps where many of those people are likely to die is greater than their misery.
Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Currently, there is a fine up to 998 dollars per day for being in the country illegally. The detention facilities being used and built are not to deport people. They are going to levy large fines that detainees will have to work off before eligibility to leave. It is slavery.
“This is what government is for. It is to help people for the damage and the devastation and I hope Congress and the President reconsider these dramatic and deadly cuts. If there is anything that good comes out of this is that we reassess our commitment to being ready.” @cnn.com
Want to win? Don’t let any seat go uncontested — let local folks talk to their neighbors. Give them talking points. Send them out to do the work. And fund the candidates and organizers at the state level.

Here in California we need our state and local leaders to tell us exactly what our rights are when we are confronted with armed masked men claiming they have the authority to disappear our fellow citizens. Now.
"The bill includes the most aggressive assault on climate action of any legislation in history. In fact, it represents a profound shift in policy. Trump and Republicans are not just ignoring climate change — they’re actually trying to make it worse." — @paulwaldman.bsky.social

Mayor Bass: This morning, it was frightening in Los Angeles to see tanks essentially rolling into MacArthur Park.
It was an egregious show of force. I have no idea what their purpose was. I don’t even think they detained anyone.
Los Angeles was peaceful before June 5. We need to go back to that.
it's amusing to me to see Trumpers banging on about Bondi orchestrating an Epstein coverup while refusing to devote an extra thought to who she would be trying to protect
Miami just canceled its November election & pushed it to 2026. No public vote, just canceled.
Mayor Suarez & Joe Carollo get to stick around an extra year.
This feels like a power grab. If one city can delay elections for “participation,” what’s to stop others from doing it to silence opposition?

Madonna “Donna” Kashanian, a 64-year-old Iranian woman who has lived in the U.S. for 47 years, was detained by ICE while gardening outside her home in New Orleans.
Lemme get this straight: nation-wide injunctions were totally fine when it came to restricting healthcare and controlling women, but not when it comes to protecting immigrants or children of immigrants?
Did I get that right?
