Applying this logic to RPG books and zines

At over 300 games played, Party of One has featured more tabletop RPGs, from crowdfunding sensations to indie darlings to self-published passion projects, from OSR to trad games to storygames to solo RPGs to lyric games, than any other production in the history of recorded actual play.

This is the best advice for how to be better at ANYTHING in TTRPGs. Be a fan of the other people and their roles. Love the other PCs. Admire the DM and get excited for their work. Geek out over the stuff your friends at the table are doing and want them to be happy! Everything else will work out.
