If you follow me for art stuff, my comments are going to annoy you, because like 70% of them are on churchy/politcal things & another 20% are books & movies. If you follow me bc of my comments, my feed is going annoy you, because it's 90% art & 10% whatever on earth else. Apologies in advance.

The Walmart photo studio. This is so long ago that they still used film, which had to be blindly wrestled into a protective container when you were done. A place I'd been turned down at 2 weeks before called to offer me a different job. It was 25 cents more an hour and I jumped at it.

Use reference. I’m serious. I get it that somehow you or someone convinced you that using reference is “cheating.” It’s not. You are just hindering yourself.

I genuinely mean this. I cannot imagine a more bleak dystopian notion than the idea of all art being turned into slop designed to coddle my exact perceived intentions. The point of literature, film, music, and art is to be exposed to the interior lives of others. Who are these people.

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

you don’t hold "AI" accountable; you hold AI developers, vendors, and corporations that profit off it accountable holding "AI accountable" is like holding a toaster accountable. it's an inanimate object. it doesn't have wishes, feelings, or desires

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

Abuse silences victims and renders them powerless. Listening makes room for their voice and honors their dignity. As a church leader, never forget that they have honored you by coming to you. You have been seen as safe—be safe.

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this. Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how. Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:

I cannot understand the people who claim they are "making art" with generative AI. Simply having the idea does not make you a creator! Prompting ChatGPT to spit out a block of text doesn't make you a writer any more than a weird dream about eating a person makes you a cannibal.

Playing around with softer edges - but apparently unable to leave behind the purple-yellow color combo. Not sure why that has such a grip on me lately, but it's definitely a thing! What are your favorite colors right now?

It also feels gross like. Okay my labor is worthless but I should support your local coffee shop??? Because?????? You are small and need the money? Girl me too the fuck? Lmao

Last year, I streamed the LOTR triology on HBO Max. The movies hold up incredibly well, but I was like, ok some of the lighting & green screen are not well done by today's standards. Esp. the "you bow to no one" scene at the end, brutal contrast. Welp.

I just finished watching the triology again. But this time, Adam got annoyed early on bc entire scenes were showing up as a pixelated mess and he switched us over to the DVDs that have been collecting dust for 10+ years. Turns out, on DVD, there's NOTHING wrong with the green screen.

This also makes me think of how beachside tower hotels caused so much coastal erosion that at one point, the beaches in Indialantic, FL were mostly rock floor just past the breaking surf.

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

If you're a small biz hiring. Please explain to me why YOU think someone NOT in your family, would want to work for you specifically BC your biz is family-owned. I see a lot of places thinking this is a selling point & I need you to know, it's something ppl may overlook, but it's not a perk.
