Last year I had a Spontaneous Organ Failure that required multiple major surgeries done with the assistance of robots and my surgeon told me that even 30 years ago in the 90's I would've have probably died or at the very least required an external colostomy bag for the rest of my life so hell yeah.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

"You won't debate me because you can't beat my IDEAS"—no, loser, I won't debate you because your ideas have been considered and rejected and no longer warrant debate, and the very act of engaging in debate frames you as better than you are and your failed ideas as worthy of anything but contempt.
Bojack Horseman is probably my favorite western animated TV show and one of the best dramatic comedies ever produced, it truly changed my life, and I found LONG STORY SHORT completely impenetrable. I couldn't make it one episode in before the speed of the dialogue wore me down and I shut it off.
It’s understandable that the TV list doesn’t include LONG STORY SHORT, the animated novelistic family comedy now streaming on Netflix, because most people haven’t seen it and as a result have no idea how perfect and wonderful it is www.nytimes.com/2025/08/22/a...

Excellent 20 minute video from a great essayist but the twist ending that she doubles down and asks her audience to come write the book for her is genuinely one of the biggest laughs I've had in a while.
I couldn't stop thinking about this when I was reading Eyepatch Wolf's book about haunted video games. "Cozy Horror" is just "Horror for Children With the Corners Sanded Down"... but Children's Horror exists in very scary, spooky spaces now, (ex. FNAF & TADC) but this is just "Pumpkin Spice Horror".
-but it's not another person gatekeeping you from a community, it's the person gatekeeping THEMSELVES from the experience they want and trying to find a way to moralize or excuse their justification for not simply putting themselves in the challenging position. They want the reward without the work.

Imagining a silly but voraciously talented British author who logs on to socials each day to ask Americans if our giant cars can even fit in our tiny "petrol" stations just to stir up the anthill and realizing that I'm wishing Terry Pratchett were alive and posting on BlueSky
I mean, I like British people but I refuse to microwave my tea just because Doctor Who and Jean-Luc Picard prefer it that way.

Sorkin has always been Cilantro to me: I don't have the necessary genetic makeup up required to think that he's good or talented. Every Sorkin property, every scene is so cringe-inducing uncomfortable for me that I have to sit down. Any clip of "The Newsroom" could put me in the hospital.
the rosetta stone of aaron sorkin is that his breakthrough was a play about abuses at guantanamo bay a decade before regular people knew what that was; but it was about abuses towards US soldiers lol

This buffoon thinks that people just have an account called "lifetime earnings". I don't understand how someone could purport to be an academic but have such poor research chops that he couldn't figure out how stupid and insane this is on his own. You have to ignorant to class in a new, bizarre way.
I don't think $30k is a life-changing amount of money. Median American born in 1980 will have $2m in income in their lifetime. It's a 1% increase in earnings.

Venba is so beautiful and heartfelt and you can finish it in a weekend if you want and you absolutely WILL start looking for Indian restaurants or grocery stores in your area because the food in this game is so colorful and delicious you can practically smell it.
We're Visai Games! 👋 We made Venba, an award winning narrative cooking game. As outsiders to the industry, we found our following in twitter but logging into it now means coming face to face with a lot of South Asian racism. If you like Venba, Follow us here so we don't have to login to twitter!
I listen to a lot of different video game podcasts and the reason this one is special is that the conversation is largely coming from experience as opposed to critical review or wish-casting. It's people who have made video games talking about them in a way that makes them seem accessible.
Long live @playwatchlisten.bsky.social! With an extra special thanks to those who support the show on Patreon - it genuinely would not exist without them, and I could not be more thankful that we continue to get to make a very anti-clickbait, anti-trending show: www.patreon.com/c/alanahpearce
The absolute end of my support of Epic and my use of Epic Game Store.
NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
I have watched this video probably 100 times
this is why Norm was a god to so many of us
This show simply does not have the awareness of many US/CA audiences and that is a crime. I know that there are Final Fantasy anime shows but there has maybe never been a single season of anime that feels or resonates more with Final Fantasy than "The Vision of Escaflowne" does. Absolutely gorgeous!
The artwork of Tenkuu no Escaflowne by Masaki Tanaka/Hiroshi Osaka used for a promotional poster. Usual upscale/clean/retouch process applied.
