Before the boom I wondered how not one of these AI companies approached the general technology in an ethical way, and with a little education you discover there’s just not an ethical way to do it.

I was curious, I looked up how AI mobile apps are actually made. I landed on an interview glazing a dude who vibe-coded a subscription app for claiming payouts from class-action settlements. Thinking this AI stuff is the most American thing to ever exist.

After weeks of emailing support and eventually sending my old PDU-01 unit to @panic.com’s god-tier employee, Dave, I finally got it back updated to a usable firmware. It took flashing some new WiFi drivers to finally bring my PlayDate back to development-capable, but it’s there now. So happy.

We’ve hit the discourse of the discourse stage.

The Mixtape discourse makes me feel like we have arrived at a place where criticism is almost untenable because it will be flanderized and stripped down to whatever parts become useful for social media cohorts driven by algorithms towards reactionary or extreme ends rather than engagement w/ media.

How the hell did we get a Skyward Sword remaster on the Switch and not Twilight Princess? Nobody has ever played Skyward Sword. It’s not even real.

Not a proponent of “AI”, but it’s kind of quaint that it can’t improve without more and more human content. The models still need us to exploit. I’m not sure similar technology would be more or less bleak if we were not needed anymore.

It’s funny to imagine general intelligence made with the philosophical touchstone of Markov chain engineering would be so entirely dependent on humanity as a sort of data farm that it would accidentally begin to resemble schlocky science fiction tropes of wanting to become “more human”.

My Tomodachi Life stand-in keeps trying to crush on the in-game Mii manifestation of Death, and I’m not sure what to make of that.

Lenin was an incredible simp for Marx. You think State & Revolution is gonna be Lenin getting all his own ideas on paper, and maybe the concept of a vanguard party shows up there, but it is 99% Lenin just telling you nobody gets Marx like he does and it’s wonderful.

Favorite part of Lenin’s wiki is this little detail where he apparently kept photos of Marx and Engels and tells people privately not that he “loves them” but that he’s *in love* with them. It’s beautiful stuff.

making some really good progress on CRUSADE now, starting to feel like a game and my first for #NES some beginning test area, combat, enemies, and health pickups. Really enjoying working with #NesMaker and what my brain retained of 6502 assembly is helping. Updated prototype for supporters.

Distracted yesterday by another sudden compulsion to doodle tiles. Mountain tops re-purposed from an old set I didn't use. Been deep in my programming spirit-time-chamber for a couple months, and returning to it now. Bye 👋

Lu's concepts are always excellent foundations to work with, so we work very hard to represent them 1:1 in game with our voxel art style 💪🐰

I’m surprised that Valve didn’t opt to wait for a low-end RDNA4-capable GPU with more VRAM on the Steam Cube. Probably outside the price point they’re aiming for?
