It’s been such an honor to work on this story for the past 5 months. A young Norwegian, Steffen, was trying to cross Canada on foot and with sled dogs. His dogs survived; tragically, he did not. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Why did a Russian oligarch close to Putin fund Trump Jr.’s wedding in the Bahamas? Umar Kremlev spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the President’s son. What did he get in return? We need answers.
Look at this photo we found from Donald Trump Jr.’s lavish Bahamas wedding. Can you spot the Russian oligarch close to Putin who bankrolled the event? 🧵

Breaking: “The Nerd Reich” book has developed superintelligence and escaped containment. Be on the lookout for early copies hitting the shelves at your local bookstore.
It’s official: the Nerd Reich podcast is getting banned from YouTube….the week of my book launch! Incredible timing, since I’ll be all over the media next week talking about tech fascism. They can delete my account. They can’t stop my work. Buy the book: www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Ne...

Public health research at world-class institutions like the NIH is an important public good. Rep. Suzan DelBene, Rep. Lori Trahan and I are leading 122 of our colleagues to oppose the Trump Administration’s efforts to give partisan political appointees final say over health research grants.

Since I did do my PhD in cyanobacteria growth and treatment optimization modeling AND work in the water treatment industry, I’m gonna share my theory as to what’s happening here and how to fix it. People are focusing on the painted bottom of the pool increasing residual heat, and while that 1/19

From the CEO of AAAS: “If this rule becomes final, Americans' hopes for future cures, national security and economic strength will rely on the scientific sensibilities of the nation's chief bureaucrat. Alzheimer's disease will not be cured by a budget analyst from either political party.”
I have often been critical of the leadership @aaas.org but they just took action on the new OMB rules that will politicize science, speaking out and notifying members. I hope all take the time to follow their advice, contact Congress, and most important, post a comment www.aaas.org/news/aaas-st...

I figured I'd write a short something wondering why Sam Alito said we couldn't force Texas to change its unconstitutionally gerrymandered maps in December because people there need "certainty" but he's happy to help Louisiana change its maps now, even as ballots have already sent...
Someone Ask Alito: If December Was Too Late To Fix Unconstitutional Gerrymandering For The 2026 Midterms, Why Is May Okay? Last December, Justice Alito told Texans they had to vote under an unconstitutional gerrymander because changing maps in December would deprive them of "certainty" before the…
Do I understand correctly: December 2025 Alito blocks further challenges to Texas redistricting due in part to the Purcell Principle wrt 2026 midterms. Late April 2026 Purcell has no limits on the possible impact of his opinion on 2 of VRA for the 2026 midterms?WTF IOKYAR? @stevevladeck.bsky.social

Excited to share our structural insights into how microtubules differentially guide phosphorylation of kinetochore-microtubule regulators, Ndc80 and MCAK, for chromosome segregation. Heroic efforts by Yiming Niu with a fun collaboration with Jennifer DeLuca lab! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Microtubules have been viewed as passive structural supports, but a study from @hirofunabiki.bsky.social in @science.org Advances redefines microtubules as active regulators, helping to prevent abnormalities in the number of chromosomes, a hallmark of cancer. 🔗: https://bit.ly/4v8miCC

Getting word of federal immigration agents operating in multiple areas around Chicagoland this morning. Rapid responders report agents took at least one person around 7 a.m. from Chicago's Hermosa neighborhood; agents were also seen in the suburb of Berwyn, though it's not clear if anyone was taken.

This is such a great idea everyone! Please talk it up, pass it along, let’s make it an Election Day thing all over the country.
There are far more voters than ICE agents. People should plan to stay at their polling place all day. Make it a party. Meet your neighbors. Talk politics. Gather food trucks. Make it a safe place for voters who are nervous. ICE agents always back off when they are outnumbered.
