to be clear, I think my writing sucks and the Times journalist doesn't. It's just frustrating to fail at making something of @tampamonitor.com beyond a personal blog and passion project but see what I'm doing change the conversation.
yesterday I posted something I worked on over the weekend at Tampa Monitor about the Rays community benefits agreement. One of the primary documents was blank. I appreciate the Tampa Bay Times writing a similar article and also noting the document was blank. Not even mad they didn't credit me.
Since then, a second copy of the agreement has been posted, this one with an Exhibit A. The Times currently still include a copy of the blank doc in their piece and read the memo from the city the same way I did, that the Rays would be presenting that list. I've added a note to my piece.

oh, and there's a clause in the CBA to carve out "a strike or lockout of Major League Baseball players" as an "excusable delay" in delivering on the agreement.
So, Tampa City Council are holding a special call meeting Thursday to vote on the Community Benefits Agreement with the Rays. Reading through it, they are proposing committing 20% of the $60M in the funding agreement over the first 5 years. $4,200,000 for the city.

Unless they have something new, this is propaganda. Sure, she approved contracts that totaled $50K that she may have benefited from. But it's not news. Otherwise it's propaganda to deflect from Hope Florida scandal.

I must have sensed a disturbance in the Force and was thinking about him last night. Hard to have grown up in this town and not been influenced by his advocacy.
Joe Redner—First Amendment hero, social justice warrior, and @lynnhurtak.com supporter—is dead. I admired his work for civil liberties long before I ever even moved to Florida & treasure each conversation I had w/ him yes, strip club innovator. paid workers a living wage, provided health care, etc
