A wonderful day delivering leaflets ahead of the Suffolk County Council by-election in Bosmere, where you can vote for our Green Party candidate Adria Pittock on 12 November - who came a close runner-up in May.
🏡 Local planning: enough is enough.
Recent Government planning changes risk weakening local communities’ influence over development, putting green spaces and the character of our towns and villages under greater pressure.

🌿 Green councillor Andrew Stringer on the importance of protecting the gaps between our settlements:
“It’s those gaps that make the fundamental character of a rural area - places for wildlife, places for people, and places where you can just breathe.”

I'm delighted that the real boss of our house, Bella, has been crowned Purr Minister of the UK.
We are a nation of animal lovers, and I am proud to play a leading role in championing animal issues in Parliament. Animal protection isn’t a side issue.
Andrew Stringer on today's announcement from our disorganised government that the elections for a unitary council in Suffolk in May 2027 will now not be going ahead as planned.
Come to a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing at Cavendish Hall, Thurston (IP31 3RU) on Mon 3 August to arrive from 7pm for screening at 7.30pm.
Open to all for free and then a discussion with people in the community about the changing climate and what we can do.
The Suffolk County Council Green Group have called for the Climate Emergency Declaration to be reinstated by the Reform-led council following the devastation caused by the wildfire on Dunwich Heath.

Across the country, wildfires are raging.
The Prime Minister needs to call a COBRA meeting and treat the climate crisis with the urgency this moment calls for.
"As a representative of Suffolk County Council today here in Suffolk, as they fight the fire on Dunwich Heath, I want to say a huge thank you to our fire service and everyone that works there."
Andrew Stringer, Leader of the Green Party Group at Suffolk County Council.

Britain has entered a new climate reality, and the Government hasn't grasped it.
Last week I led a debate on extreme heat and the cross-government action needed to protect us. Here's some of what I said.
"£24m of Reform UK donations for leaflets came from fossil fuel invested people and climate deniers.
"We do have renewable technology which we can use. We can wean ourselves off fossil fuels."
Robert Lindsay, Green Party councillor for Cosford, Suffolk County Council

“I’m the opposite of concerned because I think this is going to expose the Labour Party, who often say they'll be different when they've got rid of Keir Starmer.”
Zack Polanski on whether Labour will really change under Andy Burnham.
It's deeply irresponsible of Reform-led councils, like the one here in Suffolk, to be taking backward steps on climate and nature.
Firefighters are battling extreme heat while Reform councils stick their heads in the sand to please their political donors.
Which Andy Burnham turns up to Downing Street is crucial.
I really hope it's the non-tribal mayor who listens across party lines and thinks long-term (and not the Iraq War and PFI-backer)
"They [Reform] are a party that has a problem with women and they need to sort it out" - Sarah Wakefield Green Party Candidate for Makerfield tonight on Question Time
While ordinary people struggle every day to pay the rent or mortgage - Andrew was not only living in a palace for almost nothing, he was subletting them for cash.
The greed of the wealthy elites in this country is breathtaking.
The first duty of any Govt is to keep the public safe.
@thecccuk.bsky.social could not be clearer. On our current path, by 2050 nine in ten homes could be at risk of overheating and 40°C heatwaves may become common across the UK.
That is why we need a dedicated Climate Protection Unit in No. 10.
I am delighted that Eye now has a permanent post office again.
For far too long, residents have been left without this vital service.
With no bank in the town, having a post office is crucial for businesses and residents.
We welcome the opportunity to restore a full Planning Committee at Mid Suffolk District Council.

I’m proud to be supporting #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek.
Action for Mental Health means recognising that small steps can make a real difference, whether that is checking in on a friend, taking time to rest, speaking openly about mental health or reaching out for support.
After all the noise during the election campaign, Reform now seem to be running for cover when scrutiny and accountability begin.
Suffolk deserves serious local leadership.

Average wages in Mid Suffolk are £5,500 lower than the national average.
That is why Cllr Andrew Stringer and Mid Suffolk District Council secured £16 million in funding to build a new skills centre, helping the community to gain skills, access better jobs, and earn higher wages.
Teresa Davis is an experienced district councillor and is now running for the County Council.
On Thursday, if you live in Thredling, which covers Worlingworth, Debenham and the surrounding areas, I would strongly encourage you to vote for Teresa.
We're out with Adrian and Rowland this afternoon in Gislingham, our data says it's going to be a close race between us and Reform so we really need as many hands as we can get to make sure we win.
