They didn’t like the band for its music though. They liked feeling superior to normies. Getting popular ruins it.

There is no room in their worldview for the possibility that democracy itself might have intrinsic value as a low-danger way to implement and correct policies. They think policies govern on their own, rather than through people and process agreements.

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

House Judiciary Democrats have just released a 50-page report that pulls together years of assault allegations against Trump and his reported connections to Jeffrey Epstein. The report calls for a special counsel to investigate Trump's ties to Epstein.

Why do you think no one should try to reach them? Your attitude is why Democrats failed to compete in the South for decades. It was a grave mistake. I'm grateful that Talarico, Warnock, Ossoff, and organizers like Stacy Abrams refused to write people and regions off.

“Democratic Party leaders have agency, voters do not” bsky.app/profile/matt...

Matthew Sheffield@matthew.flux.community

They were victims of a media environment negligent Democrats let happen. Republicans acted and Democrats didn't in response. Democratic Party leaders have agency. They can and should make better decisions.

This is the final ad that Paul Wellstone wrote and filmed before he passed. I've run my campaign with this same philosophy: I'm not running to represent big corporate interests. They already have enough representation in Washington. It's the rest of us who need it.

Every Republican president of my adult life is the direct result of leftists wanting to teach the Democratic Party a lesson. Republicans are just a curse for America to endure until the democrats have done their penance.

Trying to persuade someone by arguing against their position that you find illogical and counterproductive is not "scolding"??

Wages for the bottom went up and inequality went down during the Biden administration and voters hated it. Including working class voters of all races.

Dave Strock@davestrock.bsky.social

I mean Dems have done a bang up job. Elevating Trump and loosing to home twice, almost 3 times. Truly a record to be proud of. Overseeing $50 trillion moving from the bottom to the top in as many years, the lowest labor power and highest inequality in history. But the Dem pols are all rich 🤷‍♂️

Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"

A very vocal subset of leftists has argued, in every election since 2016, that people who want more progressive policy should withhold their votes from Democrats. Such people do not have your best interests at heart. Or even their own. Vote blue and ignore anyone who tells you not to.

How would they have seen it? Who was spreading it around and making it go viral?

Malachite Tigerbunny@malachitetiger.bsky.social

Do you think it improves the party's image in the eyes of those independents who think Democrats are controlled opposition if they see *no objections within the party* to behaving like you care more about being friends with Republicans than stopping them? That's the votes that were at stake.

I reject that votes are to be earned like in a commercial contest. Spending them in the most efficient manner like a citizen is the proper way to approach it.

Malachite Tigerbunny@malachitetiger.bsky.social

The people who sat out because of the Cheney endorsement WERE NOT DEMOCRATS! They were independents who aren't votes you can count on. Who are votes you have to earn. Leftists voted for Harris at a higher rate *even while criticizing Cheney* than the centrists who liked the Cheney endorsement!

Something is off with Trump tonight. The gaffes, the glitches, the confusion are well beyond his usual. "They gave the wonderful peace prize, right? Does anybody know the name of that peace prize? They gave the Pulitzer Prize to a young lady."

Not picking on OP This attitude that nonvoters will like democrats better by the candidate being more like those of us who already vote for them really has no evidence. It’s just social medias version of the pundits fallacy.

jonwilsonauthor.bsky.social@jonwilsonauthor.bsky.social

Hmm...Rarely heard it presented as a reason to not vote for a Democrat. We can criticize the party's actions without abandoning them. In fact, we criticize to improve them in the hopes that more people will be inclined to vote for a Democrat.

But social media has made us all pundits. And editors. And station managers. So if every Democrat loudly tells the world all the ways the candidates they support are personally failing them; how does that come across to the less engaged, not reliable voter?

Why are wreckers always given the benefit of the doubt? They are adults with greater access to real information than ever before in human history. They can learn facts all on their own before their opinions need to be listened to.

Humble Novice@humblenovice.bsky.social

Honestly, I think some people just want to angrily vent and lash out instead of engaging in more meaningful discussions concerning progressive politics. It's a sad state of affairs, but this is the hand we have been dealt with due to the algorithm feeding on outrage over reasoning.

Well if Netanyahu AND Hegseth think it’s a good idea

Shipwreck@shipwreck75.bsky.social

White House sources explain the change mainly due to the great weight that President Trump gave to the assessments and intelligence that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth presented to him upon his return from the meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu.-Haaretz

The purpose of leftism isnt to accomplish political goals: the version of leftism that does that is liberalism. The purpose of leftism is to signal your moral purity and superiority over shitlibs to other leftists. They are playing a completely different game than we are.

Will the Liz Cheney obsession ever end? How many decades will that be used as a reason for leftists to not vote for a Democrat?

Oliver Willis@owillis.bsky.social

I’m most upset at the right and the media but I have enough anger left over for the democrats who enabled this shit. From Obama and Clinton turning the page to Biden praising McConnell, punting on prosecuting and welcoming Trump back and Harris palling around w Cheney. All of it.

A video just resurfaced of Vivek Ramaswamy mocking Amy Acton for being a victim of sexual abuse. He’s a real piece of shit. And every Republican who’s still backing him should have to answer for it.

Where have you gone, Duke Cunningham?

Aubrey Gilleran@aubreygilleran.bsky.social

Not the point, but I’m dying at the idea that Trump has “turned into a politician like the rest of them” when he is truly sui generis in his corruption, incoherence and lawlessness. If only he were just a median Republican.
