"Isn't she a fresh person?" "Fresh"? Seriously?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

😳 WOMAN REPORTER: Do sexual abuse allegations mean nothing to you, sir? TRUMP: Wait. Wait! Wait wait wait. Slow down. Who are you with? REPORTER: NBC, sir. But they are very serious sex abuse allegations TRUMP: Quiet! Isn't she a fresh person? You're a horrible little reporter, aren't you?

When the Democrats retake the House, all of that should happen--and Hakeem Jeffries, who met with this belly-crawler for no good reason, should NOT be the Speaker of the House. Hakeem Jeffries proved, when he met with Jared Kushner, that he fundamentally does not understand what his job is.

since California ballots are now out: prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box yes on 40, no on 41 and 42

Watching the interviews this clown is giving on his book tour, I’m deeply impressed by his cowardice, his poor grasp of the responsibilities of his job, and the total absence of personal accountability his “insights” consistently betray. He has taken up space in the Senate for too long.

Sen. Thom Tillis says he expects there will be pressure on Mike Johnson to not seat the new Congress if Democrats win

When your policies need to be sane-washed by a guy with a squeegee and a bucket of day-old vomit.

JD Vance: "I think we all have to accept that so long as the Iranians are trying to terrorize international shipping -- we of course are gonna try to push back against that -- but that is why gas prices are so high"

Dude. "Take issue with the premise"? The president set "the premise." He called it a "ban on the free press." You need to sue your middle school debate coach for malpractice.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

JD Vance defends Trump's ban on the free press: "They're just not going to get an office in the White House anymore, and I think it's totally appropriate -- unless of course they start to behave like real news organizations"

People saying "transgender ideology" in 2026 sound like people saying "race-mixing ideology" in 1956, and their kids and grandkids will feel embarrassment at their feckless cowardice.

Marcy Kaptur is the incumbent with a 5 point polling lead so I must assume she put out this ad because this is what she believes.

I don’t know. Germany’s Reichstag election might give 2024 a run for its money.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

I said it at the time (and before!), but I truly believe that American voters electing Donald Trump for a second term in 2024 was the dumbest and most self-harming choice made by an electorate in the history of humanity

Moxon is brilliant here. Consciously or not, he's advancing a very productive understanding of politics as rhetoric. Today the word rhetoric is usually meant pejoratively as mere verbal ornamentation or bs. But behind the word lies a 2,500 year-old discipline dedicated to the art of persuasion.

A.R. Moxon@juliusgoat.bsky.social

Almost nothing is more important than persuasion. Which is why it has been so diluted, corrupted, bastardized, and captured within mainstream circles. Every act is persuasive to different people of different things. It’s not just words; it’s how you show up. www.the-reframe.com/us-and-them/

Hakeem Jeffries should never again be chosen to serve in a leadership position. He should just resign now. By meeting with Jared Kushner, he demonstrated a fundamental misunderstanding as to what his job is as minority leader.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Jeffries defends his meeting with Kushner: "I'm of the view that if we're going to be committed to actually solving problems on behalf of the American people ... they're are gonna be times that you have to speak with people on the other side of the aisle. Even people you strongly disagree with."

Just saw a commercial during the Dodgers game against Proposition 40--the wealth tax. It's paid for by Building a Better California which is--surprise surprise--a billionaire PAC. Think Sergey Brinn, John Doerr, Peter Thiel, Chris Larsen, and other selfish douches. #Prop40 1./

Building a Better California is also promoting #Prop41 and #Prop42, which are designed to prevent these wealthy sh*tbags from paying their fair share. Vote "yes" on #Prop40, and "no-no-no-a thousand times no" on Props 41 & 42. They will hamstring and likely block Prop 40. 2./x

I believe that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Not only was "death panels" a lie, but I talked about it as a feature in my book on the death of expertise. That doesn't mean that Obama didn't lie. Both things can be true. It's okay to view the world as complex, rather than simple.

This nimnongle says his his wordlings bad in the press conferations. This murrit-biased job-choosing practiculations needs a looksee.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Markwayne Mullin: "The Democrats throw out all these fearmongels to try to make ICE and President Trump's administration look as worse as possible" 🥴

I heard Maggie Haberman refer to Natalie as Trump’s binky. For which Haberman deserves Pulitzer.

Ana Marie Cox@anamariecox.com

I don't think the Natalie stuff is sex, I think it's just *deeply weird* and that's what has everyone leaking about it--if it were sex, that's something people could understand and even rationalize. Instead, they're in the uncanny valley of relationships and everyone in the WH is squicked out.

Concern radiating off the Senator like the smell of a TGIFriday’s fajita.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: The shock gloves that ICE is reportedly rolling out using the deescalation funding. Is that the sort of use you envisioned when you passed that bill? SUSAN COLLINS: It's not

when you make me president in 28 im going to go to alabama and be like “how would you like it if i cut off your medicaid or sent the secret police here to execute you in the streets? anyway, heres a billion dollars for rural internet, have fun watching your gop politicians funnel it to brett favre”

I feel like you could run a saw-scaled viper against this man, and all you’d need to spend would be the cost of the snake’s travel cage to win the Dem primary. He’s gotta be planning a party switch.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

CNN: Are you definitely going to run for reelection? FETTERMAN: I've already essentially announced that

Yeah but please let's not talk about primarying this troll under the bridge because people will think Dems are impolite to each other.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Fetterman on El-Sayed: "This guy is really the Pontiac Platner, and now he's running to be the head of our emerging pro-Hamas wing here in the party."

Can we just agree that Ezra’s like the Broadway producer’s precocious nephew who gets to tap dance at the pretty parties because no one has the nerve not to clap? So tired of this guy.

Larry Glickman@larryglickman.bsky.social

As an American history professor, I regularly read new books, articles, and dissertations, and also evaluate unpublished manuscripts for journals and book publishers. I would not categorize the recent and emerging historiography in the binary way that Ezra Klein does.
