Just making s#!t up!

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

RFK JR: One time, Trump grabbed a placemat, turned it over, took a Sharpie, and drew a perfect map of the Middle East. Then he marked the troop strength of every country along each border on that map. It challenged a lot of the assumptions I had been told about him.

Said it over and over: Maga has no sense of irony. At all.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Kristi Noem: "I can't tell the people of Minnesota exactly how many dangerous criminals they have. I do know they're extremely grateful every time we get a pedophile off the street."

Masked government agents are killing people in the streets, abducting people from their homes in the middle of the night, and arresting those who speak out. If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?

True Breaking News (Washington Post): VA to cut 35,000 health care jobs across nation like nurses & doctors. VA already strained. Did our vets refuse to give back medals to melt into gold bars/coin/ballroom sconces for Trump? Truly the worst vets’ Christmas present ever.

Maybe he should lose his medical license.

Jill Lawrence@jilldlawrence.bsky.social

I have been thinking about this for months. What's the point of Cassidy being a senator, a doctor, and now in the case of hepatitis-B, a gastroenterologist? What good is power if he doesn't use it to stop what's coming and roll back damage done? Even if it takes impeachment articles against Kennedy?

This is on point. And AI will only make things worse.

Captain Mark Kelly@captmarkkelly.bsky.social

When buying a house is unattainable and jobs are disappearing, it's no surprise young people think they can’t succeed, especially young men. It's not their fault. It’s Washington’s fault for allowing the middle class to be hollowed out just to make rich people richer.

My husband @captmarkkelly.bsky.social is a 25-year Navy combat pilot veteran. He served our country with strength, courage, and integrity. The President called him a traitor and demanded he be executed. It is dangerous and wrong. Americans need to stand up and say so.

Captain Mark Kelly@captmarkkelly.bsky.social

I've had a missile blow up next to my airplane, been shot at dozens of times by anti-aircraft fire, and launched into orbit — all for my country. I never thought I'd see a President call for my execution. Trump doesn’t understand the Constitution, and we're all less safe for it.

Trump: "They had the line. The people had no idea. So I made the french fries. The guy was really good. He had a great wrist. He's going like, 'Sir -- nyha. Hhhhuh.' It was not that easy but I got it sort of finally. Not the greatest. But pouring it in."

The crazy explained in a nutshell….

Senate is back in session today. 1/ So a quick 🧵on where things are at on the shutdown. You get a lot of propaganda and spin thrown at you, so I want to give you the real, behind-the-scenes tea.

The near daily barrage of deadly mass shootings in America feels like low level warfare against normal citizens who just want to live in peace. And because people keep electing Republicans who won’t do anything about it there’s no solution in sight.

Huh? We need snipers on US soil to shoot at who?

dell cameron@dell.bsky.social

Scoop: A sudden no-bid ICE contract for specialized sniper training has gone to a decorated former Marine who is also the brother of a GOP lawmaker. Reached by WIRED, he says there was no hookup; 20 years in a reconnaissance unit and even more as an instructor simply left him uniquely qualified.

The damage Republicans have done to the US scientific enterprise is incalculable. And Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski bear blame for this. They voted to confirm RFK Jr and Bhattacharya and the Trump anti-science nominees. It’s not just Trump: the quisling R’s in Congress helped.

Oh, he’s such a charmer.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

Christ, if this question was any more loaded, it would be one of doocy’s cohosts

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Doocy asks Zelenskyy an insanely loaded question: "Are you prepared to keep sending Ukrainian troops to their deaths for another couple years, or are you going to agree to redraw the maps?"

So much winning

US BUDGET DEFICIT SOARS The deficit jumped 19% to $291B in July. This is despite $21B collected from Americans due to higher import taxes, which led to higher costs on goods like furniture, footwear, and auto parts. The deficit for 2025 is already $1.63 trillion, up 7% from the last year.

As if ai needs to get weirder: now it will act like a trippin’ adolescent instead of a sober one.

WIRED@wired.com

“It's almost like your own self that you’re communicating with,” says one psychedelic user, adding he’s tripped with his AI chatbot about a dozen times since April. “It's like your best friend. It’s kind of crazy.”

Because prisons are a for profit industry in this country.

Reports that a Canadian citizen who has resided in the US since age 10 was abducted at a green card interview. Her husband is begging ICE to let him fly her back to Canada and they refuse to release her.

100% Abortion bans are about controlling people through economic circumstances.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

Today marks the third anniversary of the Supreme Court's Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.  A reminder that abortion bans are not "pro-life." They are pro-poverty & pro-inequality. https://youtu.be/SN3oLwO0OEE?si=eRK9ZK-0doOhECIj

I keep thinking about our armed service members who are now in a war, led by a Commander-in-Chief who will consider them “losers and suckers” should they become injured or, God forbid, lose their lives in the time ahead. The rest of us good Americans thank you for your service. Godspeed.

JD Vance is a little small person.

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

Sen. Alex Padilla responds to JD Vance: "He knows my name. Look, sadly, it's just an indicator of how petty and unserious this administration is. But he's the vice president of the United States, you think he'd take the situation in Los Angeles more seriously." @msnbc.com

Replying to @bencollins.bsky.social

ICE is also the fault of a complicit press. How, where and who did ICE recruit? Why isn't every newspaper in the country devoting themselves to finding out who is in this brand new secret police force that now terrorizes America? It's the definition of newsworthy. The answer is: they're afraid.

minarch.bsky.social reposted

If you think this moment is about one politician or one press conference, you’re missing the point. This is about speaking up for every single American and fighting for our constitutional rights.

Trump created the problem. The single reason Iran was so close to obtaining a nuclear weapon is that Trump destroyed the diplomatic agreement that put major, verifiable constraints on their nuclear program.
