If you'd like to contribute to an oss project, don't focus on creating PRs. Help the maintainers triage issues and review existing PRs. Test beta releases, and give feedback about new APIs and features. Join the community and be around to help others. They need your care way more than your code now.
this approach is a bad trend ๐๐ how are contributors supposed to know whether you even looked at a PR when every PR gets closed without comment there is no signal just close the PR with no comment - it signals you looked and you closed it it's how GitHub works and it works! this doesn't.
We are updating our AI Policy to reduce maintenance stress. All pull requests are now automatically closed, unless they are created by maintainers or users from an approved list of contributors. The PR is not lost. If the team decides the change is worth pursuing, we will reopen it.
wow, interesting new desktop metaphors ๐ youtu.be/V7AfAcQwLW0?...
"save my family" spam here is almost to the level of porn spam on Twitter every post gets bombarded with it for weeks now @moderation.bsky.app how hard could it be to add a simple keyword filter for this?
wow. so this is what full AI psychosis looks like. www.youtube.com/watch?v=R--b...
I occasionally click on an ad for a 5090, just to enjoy loudly breaking out in laughter when I see the price ๐ just for fun, I clicked an ad for a 4060 Ti and it's almost 50% more than when I bought it a few years ago ๐คฃ can't imagine I'll ever buy another GPU not even remotely worth that money
I will say it again: AI vendors who promise not to train on your data, or provide an opt-out - do they still train on your data? of course not, because that would be *very* profitable www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPG6...

it's happening! finally! JPEG-XL is shipping to Chromium ๐ groups.google.com/a/chromium.o... hopefully this means it'll be in all Chromium based browsers soon great news for the web platform ๐
so do I understand correctly ai.engineer/paris/2026 this is a conference that starts at 4 pm and expects people to stay up all night? very on brand for vibe coding culture I guess 720 euros for an afternoon? huh? how do you even cram talks + workshops + a party into that time frame?? ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Intent to ship: JPEG XL! This will be on-by-default in Firefox 157, which should become the main release version at the end of September. This includes key JPEG XL features like progressive rendering. groups.google.com/a/mozilla.or...
Opus 5 isn't slow, it's actually very fast only, you're not allowed to see what it's thinking - it's encrypted over the wire. what you can see (in agents that display thinking) is actually a summary it writes *between* the thinking blocks tbh it's kind of weird, paying for tokens you can't have ๐ค
POV: react-dates has 52 THOUSAND dependencies ๐คฏ for a date-picker? Javascript culture is weird man ๐ discovered this using dependency-radar: npmx.dev/package/depe... really cool new tool, well worth a try ๐
hmm that package has 128 dependencies, not 50K ๐ pkg-size.dev/react-dates not sure what's going on there
raw SQL in your frontend ๐ electric.ax real talk: for some reason we feel better about an ORM with a REST or GraphQL frontend doing essentially the same thing with row level security ๐คทโโ๏ธ is this rejection of the idea of raw SQL in the frontend mostly rational or mostly instinctive culture shock? ๐ค

bsky is flooding with MiniMax H3 release posts, and not a single post gets a single like... while X is having a total meltdown ๐ what I want to know is: hailuoai.video/generate/ai-... did this model just perfectly recall a 1982 hit song? bc that would point to a rather serious problem, right? ๐ถ
just an hour since release, and Kimi K3 is already up on Fireworks openrouter.ai/moonshotai/k... 4 times lower latency, twice as fast looks like they still have some stability problems, but this model will be everywhere in a day or two ๐ Claude Opus on any plan is probably cheaper now though? ๐
all Kimi plans are "sold out" wtf does that even mean? are they out of server capacity? less than a week after launching K3? I guess they didn't price it right ๐ www.kimi.com/membership/p...
exciting news about local LLMs today! prismml.com/news/bonsai-... finally! I've been rooting for exactly this! can't wait to test this out! ๐
I was a huge fan of Rob Hubbard (and Commando) as a child - it's what got me hooked on computer music, so it is absolutely amazing to see the engineering behind the music unraveled and explained like this ๐ youtu.be/1YWe811rehU it's so carefully explained and well illustrated, an absolute treat ๐คโฅ๏ธ
