I'm excited to announce the 2026 schedule of Lincoln Park Kidical Mass! Our first ride is TOMORROW. We always meet at the Tin Man statue (Webster/Larrabee/Lincoln) in Oz Park and ride to a different kid-friendly destination every month. Tomorrow, it's Sunshine Playground. Hope to see you there!

My 6yo just lost a tooth and wrote the Tooth Fairy a letter asking for a billion dollars for it. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, I guess. 🤣

If you ride transit in Chicagoland, you should take this survey.

NITA Chicago@nitachicago.bsky.social

📢 NITA is developing its first regional budget and wants to hear which transit improvements are most important to you! Your feedback will help shape future investments across CTA, Metra, and Pace. Survey now available in English and Spanish: https://bit.ly/4AJCzRe

Apple Fest feels crowded because our streets are devoted to cars. Expanding the festival to meet demand is too difficult & expensive bc of traffic planning & parking meter payouts. The people yearn for more permanently pedestrianized spaces with regular programming!

Block Club Chicago@blockclubchi.bsky.social

Did social media ruin Apple Fest? With long lines and large crowds, some believe so. buff.ly/d6F9HDf

I wish Chicago did this. I'm currently trying to get signatures from half my neighbors for a block party permit on Halloween. It's a very frustrating process.

Seattle Department of Transportation@transportation.seattle.gov

Halloween is coming. You don’t have to go to a “trunk-or-treat” event in Seattle! You can close your neighborhood street to through-traffic – for free! Trick-or-Streets permits are free and easy to get. Join here: seattle.gov/transportation/trick-or-streets

Around 4pm, we decided to party anyway. It’s great to have neighbors who will stand around in the rain to drink beer with one another!

In hindsight, today might not have been the best day to have a block party.

Lincoln Park Kidical Mass is CANCELLED for Sunday 9/20 due to thunderstorms on the forecast. Hope to see you for our final ride of the season on Halloween! 🎃

Situations in which it is permissible to rush the field: 1) you beat your rival in dramatic fashion 2) you beat a top 10 team when you are a substantial underdog 3) you win the championship at home Not when you cheat to beat a MAC team by 1 point when you should’ve won by 40!!!

"It’s not that anyone is banned any more but that the wide, busy highway acts as an effective barrier between city and lakefront in a manner certainly not in the spirit of the Burnham Plan."

My husband and I finally got to visit the Obama Presidential Center today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I know they’re booking into 2027 already but go get tickets! It’s totally worth it.

The Cortland Street Bridge nightmare has no end in sight. The bridge has already been closed for close to a year, and the city is going back to the drawing board. At least they'll reopen the bike lanes in the meantime, but what an embarrassing mess for CDOT.

Thanks to everyone who gave comment at this meeting! IDOT needs to know that removing car infrastructure along the lakefront is actually overwhelmingly popular.

At the CMAP meeting today. First public commenter says lake shore drive should prioritize transit, walking, biking, and safety, and that a reconstruction of Lakeshore needs to not prioritize cars, a "20th century approach"

I am begging someone to solve the problem of bikeshare bikes + children.

China's future is on BICYCLES. They realized cars were too big, created gigantic congestion, polluted the air, etc. CHANGE! 10+ yrs creating SAFE BICYCLE infra. Everywhere. Connectivity. Chris Bruntlett, Int. Relations Dutch Cycling Embassy has been showing transformation. Below, Beijing. Thanks!

People will tell you lots of horror stories about parenting, but my 6-year-old just told me he was having a hard time falling asleep because he was too happy. 🥰

Chicago people who frequent bougie cafes/food shops: Did you know that Goddess and the Baker and Goddess and the Grocer are completely separate and unrelated corporate entities? I felt very gaslit by this icon on their menu today.

You know, I never really think the shock absorbing front fork on my bike makes a big difference until I ride a bike without one. Absolutely bone-shattering experience. You people are just out here on road bikes raw-dogging Chicago potholes? Couldn’t be me.

Well this is refreshing!

Oh The Urbanity!@ohtheurbanity.bsky.social

Business owners on Montreal’s Saint-Denis Street in the Latin Quarter are worried about losing business — — with their street no longer pedestrianized due to nearby construction. “After two seasons with cars driving just two inches from the patios, are we going to lose customers?”

Heads up for the Chicago transit nerds. IDOT is hosting a meeting to gather feedback about the Metra Clybourn station. Thursday July 23 530p-730p Holstein Park Fieldhouse

Great piece by @paparidesabike.bsky.social. Too often, our leaders act like change is outside their control when really, it's simply outside their imagination. We have to expand our thinking about what's possible & what can work. We don't have to live this way. chicago.suntimes.com/other-views/...

chicago.suntimes.comChicago lacks the will to curb traffic crashes that kill cyclists, pedestriansNationally, deaths of cyclists over the age of 20 have increased almost five times since 1975.

Have any of you ridden the Chicago Water Taxi with a bike? Their website says that you can bring a bike onboard, but I'm wondering if my longtail cargo bike would be acceptable.
