Thanks Dan for these ideas. How would we make sure the new oracy framework is #anti-oppressive, eg #anti-ableist? Are policy-makers learning from #neurodivergent -authored theory & #EdRes?

Oracy is neither a soft option nor a slogan. It is taught knowledge. Chapter 1 of Speaking Truths: the five false choices holding back the debate, and what the new oracy framework should commit to. Hard to assess is not the same as not worth teaching. danmorrowedu.substack.com/p/speaking-t...

Late to this but another piece really worth reading from Dan, about how schools and trusts can truly be held in common across communities. This is definitely the right direction, and I love the challenge at the end to join in thinking what this could look like.

If you are properly curious about what is #Supervision and how could it work in schools to support staff, promote everyone’s wellbeing and safeguard children, this is a lovely listen. #EduSky @talkingheadsoak.bsky.social

Fantastic to hear this Lisa. It really helps to have a conversation between supervisors and supervisees about what supervision is and how it benefits the supervisee. For those who missed Lisa in person she has done a great podcast youtu.be/9OGQsOQ6plo?...

Great idea- hoping to find others working to offer and support the implementation of #Supervision in #Education. Working across the country and across sectors I hear a lot about dilemmas senior leaders are dealing with. It would be so good to connect

I have no doubt that someone, somewhere is ruining this is a win because of “engagement” It isn’t. This is tone deaf and really Irritating

Finally got round to writing about this. We're not making enough progress with challenging educational disadvantage. We should pick key areas that face wicked problems, suspend how we normally do things, and try radical collaboration: open.substack.com/pub/jimlaude...

open.substack.comLet's try somethingPoorer kids still do badly at school. We're not moving the dial. It's time to throw the rules out of the window and do things differently (in a narrow, carefully scoped and targeted way).
Jim Lauder@mrjlauder.bsky.social

Very interesting idea here to pilot more collaborative, place-based working between schools to tackle the attainment gap in specific areas, and suspend Ofsted inspections during those pilots.

It is utter bullshit that the mistaken splicing of two bits of his January 6th 2021 speech on Panorama in October 2024 had any significant impact whatsoever on the reputation of Donald Trump in Britain, or globally, and the claim for $1 billion damages is bullshit and bullying by the US president

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Nice response to the curric & assess review. In case it’s paywalled for you, @missgoodyear.bsky.social & @samgibbs.bsky.social conspicuously don’t go down the ‘implementation’ of ‘what works’ (ie data-farming) path, but instead go with attuning to & meeting actual needs. Happy #neuroqueering! 🦋

Wow, quite the day! Thanks to all of you that have supported, engaged with, and input to, the Curriculum and Assessment Review. Having the different sources of evidence, including the experiences and wisdom 'from the ground' from teachers and school leaders, has been pivotal. Many thanks again!
