Get your shots, folks. It won't prevent you from getting infected, but it could lessen the severity and keep you out of the hospital.

who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

After seeing the enshitification and fallout from Uber, Facebook, Twitter, the "gig economy," rent fixing software, Elon Musk generally - and what they have done to San Francisco specifically - I'm pretty sure I'd pay to never have to hear anything ever again from any tech leaders.

Dr Oz speaks from looooong experience here

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Dr Oz: "We have an advantage with AI. You know why? We don't think the way fraudsters think. That's just not what our minds do. The bank managers don't think about bank fraud. They want to do loans and help businesses. Fraudsters think about fraud. So the AI can think the way a fraudster thinks."

The repeal of the ACA is going to destroy healthcare. Prior to its passage people would get divorced to avoid the government seizing their assets for their healthcare. People used to cede custody of kids to relatives so they could have healthcare. You could be denied CHEMO b/c you had acne at 16

Sanders: I am not a great fan of the affordable care act. I believe in medicare for all. I think that health care is a human right, but I will be damned if I'm going to see people in Vermont and around this country see a doubling in their premiums.

After years of reading articles like this, contagious illness like Norovirus is one of the first things I associate when I hear about cruise ships.

A norovirus outbreak affected nearly 100 passengers and crew on a cruise from San Diego to Miami. The highly contagious illness struck about 5% of passengers during the two-week voyage. www.healthday.com/health-news/...

RIP Glad Day. Was the oldest surviving queer bookstore in North America, until it closed recently. Sad to see an important LGBTQ space and another independent bookstore bite the dust. But I appreciate the people who spent years trying to keep it going.

The “problem” with vaccines? They so effective at preventing deaths that they create generations of people that question whether disease was a problem in the first place because they have never experienced the horrors of a world without vaccines.

Trigger warning. “In crashes, SUVs are more likely to strike vital organs in the core of adults’ bodies & heads of children. Hitting pedestrians above their center of gravity means they’re more likely to be knocked forward & down and then be driven over.” Plus more likely to hit in the 1st place.

Brent Toderian@brenttoderian.bsky.social

“The rise in high-fronted SUVs poses a clear and growing threat to public safety, especially for children,” states the report. “With no benefit to society, it’s time for lawmakers at all levels to act.” Via @carltonreid.com in @forbes.com. Cap SUV/truck hood heights. And ban unsafe designs.

As right-wing oligarchs were buying up mainstream and social media, the mistake everyone else made was thinking that these purchases were based on a normal assessment of value. Remember when Elon Musk “overpayed” for Twitter? They understood that controlling the message and narrative is priceless.

Brent Toderian@brenttoderian.bsky.social

Make no mistake, everything that’s happening in the United States is being significantly enabled by the right wing oligarch capture of media. Every other country needs to do everything possible to keep that from happening where they are. Including protecting the CBC from Poilievre here in Canada.

So painfully dumb. After caring for countless hospitalized COVID pneumonia patients, I literally cannot think of any evidence based reason for this. Benefits outweigh harm.

We analyzed hundreds of hours of his public comments from 2020-2024 to show this and refer to him as an anti-vaccine activist in our reporting. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

ABC News is still calling RFK Jr. a “vaccine skeptic.” The dude was one of the most prominent anti-vaccine activists for decades. There’s video of him in 2023 saying that there’s no vaccine which is safe and effective. You can call him an anti-vaccine activist!
