Probably not social enough for social media. My opinions have never been those of my employer.

I may well be a prisoner of the moment, but I'd watch the hell out of a movie like Zhang Yimou's To Live, but it's just about Lula's life and career

Probably the guy who's going to come out of this one looking like a hero is André Janones, a deputy (congressman) from Minas Gerais who just kind of... decided to take the reins of the situation, more or less, and people were feeling so aimless after the first round that they went along with it.

There is something so soul crushing about creating art that pushes the needle in the games industry, only to be thanked by using the capital gained from said art to push the ones who created it out of a job.

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

I am in Cap Haitien interviewing people deported from the United States. I have been doing this kind of work for almost a decade and it literally does not get more dire than this. People have lost everything they built in the U.S. and are terrified and have no place to go or way to live.

I spoke with @nature.com on the US Administration's new $100,000 tax on international students who stay to work. I estimate that the tax will sharply reduce the use of Optional Practical Training & thus talent inflows to the US economy. My estimates in this new paper —> www.iza.org/publications...

Only 30 days to comment, but don't worry! There's a "delayed implementation" so it will take effect 60 days after the final rule. DHS doesn't believe anyone has reliance interest in this program either. At least, not enough to overcome their totally legit concerns about "waste, fraud, and abuse."

Trump is in Nebraska right now and just started looking around the crowd for the Iowa Republican gubernatorial candidate. And before anyone says it's an easy mistake, he's not in Omaha. He's in Grand Island, nowhere near Iowa. He's losing it, guys.

She has to just vocally reject this shit every day until it stops. Maybe that's not fair, but her current strategy is not working. If she's not going to do that, I don't want her to stay with the Fever.

One knock on effect of Musk buying out Twitter is that the “respectable” racists have lost their sense of how many layers of kayfabe they have to slap on their bigotry.

Let me be very clear about precisely why this whole sports thing is bigotry since it is one of the top strategies of anti trans hatred right now.

Latest WSJ poll: "63% want to pause AI development 61% want a billionaire wealth tax 59% want Medicare for All 57% want a $20 minimum wage 58% want to end U.S. military aid to Israel" This is the center of the country politically. it is time all adjust to this political spectrum, esp. media.

Colorado GOP nominee for governor, Victor Marx, laughs as he recounts a violent fight with his wife: "I remember grabbing her, slamming her into our front door. She bent over and started crying."

The first protest I ever went to, was as a kid holding a "Give a hoot, don't pollute" sign while protesting a hog confinement being permitted extremely close to a small town. This data is as incredible as CAFOs are depressing.

Sentient@sentientmedia.org

In Iowa, there are more concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) than grocery stores. Yet for most of the public, the location of nearby CAFOs and the amount of manure they may be producing is inaccessible. Until now.

I'm still willing to believe Jack Smith committed perjury by not mentioning Kate Martin was also playing. Lie of omission, surely.

This is why they say shut up and dribble (or tackle in this case). This is absolutely a scandal and deserves to be covered as such

Things I’m watching for tonight… 🏈 Jordan Love had a 2.3 TTT last week. Do they trust the line more vs the ATL rush? Does he? 🏈 Penix’s ability to lean into his strength (attacking the perimeter) vs GB’s corners, as opposed to their strength up the spine 🏈 Can LVN keep balling?

no, it is the other way around. if you are looking at D+14 (or D+12 or +10 or even +8) generic ballot then there is basically no point in trying to tamper with anything. you are going to lose, the only ? is how bad it is going to be. it's when the election is *tight* that tampering makes sense.

Brian@briatfar.bsky.social

There will be election and voter tampering by the Republicans precisely because of what these polls are indicating.
