Fair warning: I swear a lot because the world is on fire, and I'm quite pissed about it. Occasionally, I'm funny, too! But I really do want world peace.

I know it’s really distasteful and dispiriting and gross to think about, but you won’t understand Trumpist politics or the status of women if you don’t understand that a lot of people aren’t just in denial about the prevalence of rape; they are affirmatively pro-rape.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Big Oil profits have skyrocketed since Trump launched his Iran War. Meanwhile, Trump himself owns up to $81 million in oil and gas stocks — which have increased in value by 43% since the end of 2025. When Trump says "we're making a freaking fortune," understand who he is really talking about.

I agree with this in broad strokes, but the underlying connective tissue here is more of a character problem: this administration is simply bad at authoritarianism. Their policy judgment and execution has been ham-handed and incompetent because *they* are ham-handed and incompetent

Three moments broke Trump 2.0: 1) Kimmel and other attempted censorship after Charlie Kirk. Made public see the attack on speech. 2) Minnesota anti-ICE protests, Goode and Pretti killings. Made public see the attack on rights. 3) Iran war. Made public see bad foreign policy affects them directly.

OK, but seriously… Take your ballot to an official drop off site, do not trust the USPS to postmark it correctly. Find the official ballot drop off near you and take your ballot there.

Here’s another example of abuse. Same as the Dana Bash clip, he attacks her for not giving him time to speak, then gaslights her about what’s in his lawsuit. I bet a lot of women recognize this behavior.

BRENNAN: The DOJ lawsuit demands the Alaska result not be certified if voters are confused. The confusion is defined as Sen. Sullivan not winning. BLANCHE: That's not what it says BRENNAN: I'm quoting from it. You are telling them not to certify it. What right does the federal govt have?

Just to be clear... Prop 40 is a ONE-TIME retroactive tax. It applies ONLY to billionaires and would tax just 5% of their wealth — which grew 30% in 2025. California's billionaires would still be worth $2T+ AFTER the tax. The revenue will fund healthcare for millions of Californians. Vote YES.

No, they were middle-aged men wearing powdered wigs, elaborately embroidered hostess jackets, silk hose, and shoes with enormous buckles and substantial heels. In other words, our Constitution was written and signed by drag queens.

Yeah like I think people can sometimes be A BIT pearl-clutchy about age-gaps between consenting adults but I don't much see the logic between "NOW that I'm 45 suddenly women ny age aren't impressed with me" and "so I have NO CHOICE but to date ones 25 years my junior who are ALSO my students"

Josh Turek’s rank bigotry is a betrayal of American values. His stance on trans rights is to the right of West Virginia, Alabama & seven other red states’ laws. Dems are +9 on trans issues; there is no moral or political reason to take this stance except to oppress trans people. Turek is a traitor.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

I don't agree with this. Even though Elon Musk received over $38,000,000,000 in corporate welfare from the federal government, he should still be allowed to vote. Once. What he should *not* be allowed to do is to interfere with *our* votes.

Mail early, or use an official ballot drop box where available. If mailing close to your deadline, ask for a hand postmark at the post office counter.

Reporting traced the operation to a Wyoming LLC created just last month called “Texas Transgender Student Union.” Who is paying for it and who is behind it remain unknown. This deserves a thorough investigation. Voters deserve to know who is trying to manipulate them.

Someone is impersonating a transgender rights group in Texas as early voting begins. This raises serious concerns about an attempt to interfere with the election through deception.

A rule announced Friday reverses the Biden administration’s 2024 ban, allowing sport hunters to lure black and brown bears with food. This teaches bears to associate people with food, putting hikers, campers and the bears themselves at risk.

Elon Musk has spent at least $366 million since July to boost Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterms. That’s just 0.0385% of his total net worth. Oligarchs can rig the system at the expense of everyone else, and only spend pennies doing so. We must get Big Money out of politics.

The blame for having an incompetent press secretary rests solely with Donald Trump, not Katie Zacharia. She can’t help that she’s incompetent, *he* chose to appoint her anyway. Just like he chose to appoint incompetent Pete Hegseth and incompetent RFK Jr.

Tax billionaire wealth. I frankly don't care if a billionaire can make a second billion. I'd rather have the average person be able to make their first $100k.

At a time when the most influential leaders of the U.S. need to stand up loudly and clearly for the rule of law, they are leading the charge in the opposite direction. But not Jack Smith. Kudos to him for continuing to be a much needed voice of clarity.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Jack Smith: "History teaches that the rule of law is rarely destroyed all at once. It's often weakened by attacks on the institutions and the public servants sworn to uphold it. Since January 2025, we have witnessed precisely such an effort."
