President Trump is pouring millions of taxpayer dollars into the Reflecting Pool, while actively harming green spaces across the country.
Wait... so staying quiet on climate and net zero WON'T lead to magical solutions?
This is why it drives me insane when the climate sector say things like ‘we should stop using net zero’. If you don’t opponents to change will continue to dictate what net zero means. So important to talk about it ALONGSIDE climate impacts. It is our best and only solution

Letter in today's Times by climate scientist Sir Brian Hoskins: "The discourse around net-zero is increasingly decoupled from…science and our changing weather. "Net-zero is not an arbitrary slogan, rather it is dictated by the laws of physics."

Replying to @playboy.com
"[Trump] represents everything that is wrong with a toxic male and I don’t know how people can be drawn to that," fourth-generation union member James A. Williams Jr. tells @kimkelly.bsky.social. "In general, you see a disenfranchisement." www.playboy.com/read/politic...
This reminds me of a tour of a cement plant and there was sincere excitement from the company that they had recently replaced burning coal dust to heat the kilns with... burning tires.
In some places, like Europe, India, and LatAm, a significant amount of fuel comes from burning trash. This is often suggested as a climate solution for the industry, but if the carbon in your trash is fossil carbon (like, for example, almost any plastic), that's not helping. shorturl.at/3jA8T

I dove deep into the life and career of Paul Pena, a blind singer-songwriter and guitarist originally from Cape Cod whose two albums are extraordinary documents of timeless originality—full of emotional honesty and musical honesty—but who is still largely unknown. His story is tragic and uplifting.
For my fellow music obsessives, one of the best writers I know (Paul Barbagallo, who tends to avoid social media like the plague) just launched a killer newsletter: The People’s Music. I implore you to give it a read and subscribe: open.substack.com/pub/thepeopl...
AMEN.
Stuff like this is what’s slowly driving me to despair with North American “climate friendly” politicians. Instead of digging trenches & fighting tooth & nail to keep what we’ve got, they’re brushing their brows like Scarlett O’Hara & breathing “O, but times have changed!” Not in China they haven’t.

America’s unions welcome today’s historic ruling from the International Court of Justice affirming that the right to strike is a fundamental human right protected under international law. We commend the @ituc.bsky.social for their efforts in achieving this result. https://bit.ly/4x0uwh9

People need immediate relief from rising electricity prices. @americanprogress.bsky.social has 3 policy proposals: 1. A rate relief fund, 2. A national AI data center fair share policy, and 3. A program to build a better, bigger power system Check it out: www.americanprogress.org/article/a-pl...

The "abundance agenda" aims to solve our supply crises, but often ignores a critical factor: worker power. In our new report, Kate Andrias & @awhf.bsky.social argue for "Democratic Abundance"—a vision where workers shape the future they’re building.🏗️💪
This… and maybe we go nuts and try to eventually just ban surveillance capitalism and all its tentacles?
Explosive & really outrageous revelations in here about a billionaire's private surveillance network completely run amok. If we can't stop Dolan from spying on us at MSG, let's at least cancel his sweetheart tax break. (1/2)

Happy Jackie Robinson Day! There's nothing more American than baseball -- but that's not stopping the Trump administration from trying to delete and censor stories about this American hero www.americanprogress.org/article/the-...
I once had AI write a Valentine’s Day sonnet for my wife, which I sent to her by saying, “I had AI write you a shitty Valentine’s Day poem cuz you think Valentine’s Day is stupid.” She thought jt was hilarious. That’s the extent of writing I’ll use it for.
I’ve never written anything using AI, I never will, and I have zero respect for any professional who does.

We can remember at least one time when the United States did take care of daycare; it was during a time of war. 🤔 #FDR
Trump: "The US can't take of daycare. That has to be up to a state. We're fighting wars. Medicaid, Medicare -- they can do it on a state basis. We have to take care of one thing: military protection. But all these little scams that have taken place, you have to let states take care of them."
