I’m pretty sure I have been pissed off since the descent on the escalator, with a brief respite that wasn’t long enough. Pretty sure it has shortened my lifespan too.

ICE agents broke a U.S. citizen's arm when they intentionally struck him with an unmarked vehicle as he rode his e-bike in Long Beach, California. He screamed in pain as agents tased him twice and handcuffed him on the ground. His injuries are severe. Repost this everywhere!

On the Constitutional amendment, I voted no because it would lock in income tax breaks for the wealthy and special interests, and shift future revenue to more regressive fees, sales taxes, and property taxes. Bad to put that in the Constitution. Graphic by @progressiowa.bsky.social

Pretty clear that Trump/Hegseth are doing everything they can to force Ukraine to surrender to Putin by withholding all US assistance while actively helping fund the Russian war machine to kill as many civilians as possible including kids. What a dark, evil chapter in US history.

Someone asked my opinion on the Iowa constitutional amendment we are voting on this year and here is my research and opinion: This amendment will permanently change the constitution. I do not believe tax laws should be inflexible. It proposes that income tax changes require a 2/3 majority

Should the economy suffer, it would require state cuts to spending at a time when flexibility would be needed. This allows changes to other taxes such as fuel and sales. Fuel and sales taxes are regressive. With a budget shortfall, those regressive taxes would be easier to increase.

This amendment is supported by “Americans for prosperity” a Koch funded organization and republicans. This amendment is opposed by the League of Women Voters and democrats. I will be voting NO and I think you should too. I used “balletopedia” and news articles for most of my information.

of both houses to change income tax laws. It also means that 1/3 (a minority)of the elected representatives would control tax policy in the state. Iowa recently lowered taxes on the rich and corporations and this would lock in those tax cuts. Should the economy suffer,

Honestly, the whole ‘we had to do the war because we were in imminent danger, but we’ll get back to it after you vote so you don’t see death and destruction on the news as you are deciding…’ should get more attention.

Since Trump took office, his backwards economic policies have cost the average American family over $4,200 extra for everyday necessities. ⛽ Gas: $4.36/gal 🚛 Diesel: $6.32/gal Now 95% of Americans say we’re in an affordability crisis. Americans can’t afford more of this. Vote out ALL Republicans!

Price pressures are expected to extend through the first half of 2027 as crop and price effects are still building. These forces don't drive up your grocery budget overnight, but the strain on the cost of growing, harvesting and transporting food will make food prices worse.
