It is kind of funny how I have become addicted to reading on Reddit and News (CBC, Ground News, and Google News) than using social media. I wouldn't call it productive. Anyways, how are y'all doing?

"Sri Lanka" is news all over. But it is for a war no one wanted and Sri Lanka had no part of it. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Super dissapointed and saddened by actions of the USA and Israel. But not surprised given how they disregard human lives, profit from wars, and vote for fascists.

Most of mass shootings in the west are done by white, Christian, and cis men. But nobody talks about the murder unless it is a gender minority and/or non-white person. These racist and homophobic people really don't care about victims or well-being of the society. They are just bigoted.

Looks like we will have the same opposite leader despite his loses and questionable histories. But honestly, is Canada losing having a strong opposite party?

Why don't our provincial and federal governments want to launch a national grocery store chain? It could be a government-backed co-op. I personally think it would be a better strategy than giving rebates. #cdnpoli

Mark Carney delivered an excellent speech in Davos. It has really good points to think about. Trump made a speech on the following day at same location. His speech is a good example of what Mark was saying. Let's see we will actually do it! #cdnpoli theconversation.com/mark-carneys...

Dissapointing. Glad I stopped using Hootsuite years ago and never bothered to use it. There are so many better alternatives out there!

A good news for today! :)

BREAKING: Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife has made a “transformational” donation to the LGBTQ+ advocacy group. This large gift comes just months after the Trump administration shut down counseling services for queer youth. My latest for @wired.com:

My Instagram account briefly got deactivated for a suspicious activity. I wonder if my account was one of accounts in the Instagram data breach that happened recently.

I mean Government of Canada and their politicians still actively post on X instead of switching to BlueSky, Mastodon, or freaking Threads. 🤷🏽‍♂️ #cdnpoli

Rachel Gilmore@rachelgilmore.bsky.social

The concept of posting “Canada is not considering a ban of X” as a QUOTE of your post condemning deepfake sexual abuse happening **ON X** of women and kids………….

I still can't believe this is happening. The US government also threatened the UK government if they bans X over these inappropriate features from Grok.

Kat Tenbarge@kattenbarge.bsky.social

I keep thinking about how a young woman DoorDash driver was charged and hauled into court for recording and posting evidence of her customer sexually harassing her, while nothing is happening to the droves of men using Grok to sexually harass women and children. The institutions are pro-perpetrator.

Not only this is classist, it is also ablest and agest. How did Transport Canada Agency allow this?

Global News@globalnews.ca

The Calgary-based company announced in September it would reconfigure the seating on 43 Boeing 737 jets to install an extra row and divide the cabin into more tiers. globalnews.ca/news/1160698...

"People We Meet on Vacation" goes to Canada at one point, but the film was never filmed in here. Typical. 😂

Canadian Federal Government Department is indirectly aiding fascists and their allies by still updating on Twitter. Why haven't they switched to Mastodon or BlueSky yet? 🤦🏽‍♂️

Thinking about families of Renee Nicole Good. Just like anything violence and gun involved there, no resistance against these kidnappers and murders. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Disabled people experience loneliness not bc we’re misunderstood. Not bc non-disabled ppl don’t genuinely care to try. It’s ableism-fueled ostracism. And GPT-whatever-the-fucks aren’t even in the same galaxy as solution(s). They’re scratchy, plastic fibers in the weave of technoableism.

A country is taking off freedoms and spreading dictatorship. Now they are invating another country to "free itself from a dictator and give freedom".

80yrs old grandpa with felony charges and pedopile history become a president. He is doing what dictators do in their early days. Yet he is capturing another dictator and slaps some charges.

They allowed LLMS to profit from vulnerable folks and sexist and racist wolves. Now they are allowing LLMS to make contents without victim's consents? I am not against AI or LLMS, But this lack of regulation and allowing billionaires ruin our society is disgusting.

Agree, I couldn't believe how some were keep filming even as the fire was spreading. In one video, people were filming from outside while participants were struggling to escape. Luckily one guy kicked a side door down and saved a woman from inside. Unbelievable.

Jen the Feisty Librarian@feistywaters.com

There's an extremely disturbing video of people dancing inside the Swiss bar while the fire spreads. I get that there were probably a lot of intoxicated people there on NYE but there must have been at least a few people sober enough to scream GET THE FUCK OUT BECAUSE FIRE.

The first adventure of 2026: Multiple delays and a cancellation on my way to home. Wish I recorded my rushed runs in the airports and in Montreal on Strava. 😂

Some Palestine demonstrators are putting up flags and signs on display during CBC New Year's Eve coverage. A good reminder! Also I am glad we allow the rights to protest and demonstrations even though it is not perfect.

SPOILER: Stranger Things Latest Stranger Things episodes from Christmas eve were terrible. Will Byers coming out isn't it. Your lamw memes only show your homophobic side. 💁🏽‍♂️

No one chooses to be disabled or chronically ill. It’s not a moral failing. People blame the disabled because it makes them feel morally superior. They can tell themselves it’ll never happen to them. It can happen to anyone. It’s a minority group you can join at any time.

Thanks to AI and capitalism, Computers and devices might get more expensive and have lower specs and probably won't get better for a foreseeable future. I wonder how it would impact access to those stuff to folks struggling with poverty.

Merry Christmas Drew, y'all!

Patrick Garvin@patrickmgarvin.bsky.social

When we were kids, my brother had a girl in his class named Eve. Eve had a brother named Drew. My brother and I thought that if her family celebrated Christmas Eve on the 24th, they surely must celebrate Christmas Drew on the 23rd. Almost 40 years later, we still call this day Christmas Drew.

What could have been another segment from a program that most people would forget after 60 minutes now has become something people would talk for another 60 months. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Typical Vancouver Island life: BC Ferries cancelled today's sailings till 6pm. Been waiting online queue for almost 20 minutes to book a foot passenger ticket to return to the mainland. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@openvibe.social The "For You" feed is nice! Could you add an option for "Hide the user on For You" (or Hide the user on this feed? Some folks misuse the hashtags and/or post spams. Would be nice to have this instead of just blocking and muting.

Almost two years ago, I lost my job just before the holidays. I don't celebrate Christmas like most do here, but it was weird to enter new year with uncertainty and some anxieties. Thinking of those who experienced and experiencing similar situations! 🫂
