City of Minneapolis might not have a massive budget problem right now if they'd simply forced MPD to stuff an envelope full of cash and write "overtime" on the front, so that police could see and feel the impact of spending beyond their means.

I'm proud to be your DFL & Labor endorsed candidate for Senate District 62 - supported by an incredible coalition of organizations, unions; leaders 20 days until the Aug 11th Primary! We’re fired up to mobilize the Southside & win big. Join our movement: FatehFor62.com

Very important post! Also I will continue to plug the Caro books. So informative and detailed.

This Day in Labor History: June 20, 1947. President Harry S. Truman vetoed the odious Taft-Hartley Act, the most vile piece of labor legislation in American history. But Congress immediately overrode it, showing how weak organized labor was even at its strongest point in history!

What a great message to send to the families, students, and staff of MPS! Take yourself to Wayzata too and manage their police force.

Interim police chief says he moved his family out of Minneapolis after 25 years to get his children into the Wayzata school district. I hope the replies to this post can combine our love for ugly police politics with our love for ugly school politics.

Here's a shot I took of the 1984 DFL state convention, held the the old Saint Paul Civic Center. Four well-known candidates vied for the Senate endorsement: John Derus, Wendy Anderson, Jim Oberstar and Joan Growe. The balloting went all night, with Growe winning endorsement early the next morning.

This is shameful and ridiculous. My partner and dog waited outside on this bench for me while I pick up holds. Scary! I’m calling my commissioner tomorrow and encourage others to do the same.

Wedge LIVE!™@wedge.live

I was at Walker library in Uptown Saturday (children and families were inside doing library stuff, seemingly unafraid). The county appears to have sawed off the stone bench that used to be fixed to the wall at the entry.

I really want to do a research project that looks into whether or not any of the same families involved in the Citizens Alliance are caught up in all of this garbage.

HCMC — the most important safety net hospital in the Upper Midwest — is on the verge of collapse, while Mayo netted $1.5 billion in profit. It’s not just a struggling institution, it’s a broken system.

Minnesota Reformer@minnesotareformer.com

Commentary: HCMC’s financial situation was not caused by mismanagement or fraud; it results from a system that reserves basic health care for those who can afford it, leaving underfunded public hospitals to pick up the pieces, and taxpayers to pick up the bill. minnesotareformer.com/2026/03/24/h...

Last week on the trail, I found one of my favorite quiet miracles. These are Pipevine flowers — easy to miss, blooming before the leaves arrive, long before most things wake up. They’re part of a remarkable relationship that eventually gives rise to the Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly.

It’s a privilege to represent an ~80% renter community. The most vulnerable of my constituents, along with vulnerable renters across the Southside and Minneapolis, are at risk of losing their homes come the 1st when rent is due. We need @governorwalz.mn.gov to enact an eviction moratorium NOW.

Thank you to our first responders making a ruckus outside so I know when that little weirdo Greg Bovino rolls his convoy within honking distance of my home.

Everyone knows the biggest healthcare fraudsters in Minnesota aren’t Somali, they’re at UnitedHealth Group. I want to hear DFLers point the finger, accurately, at this entire convoluted dumb HMO system of vouchers & grants (the DFL itself helped create) that somehow makes millionaires in Minnetonka.

This Day in Labor History: December 16, 1977. Eight women bank workers at Citizens National Bank in Willmar, Minnesota went on strike, charging sex discrimination they faced on the job. Let's talk about these brave women and their fight for justice!

Realized this is the first full week Kupchellacrats go from “Me sowing: Haha fuck yeah!!! Yes!!” over Frey’s re-election to “Me reaping: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck“ trying to get Walz re-elected. A Precarious State indeed.

2017 AFSCME mailer said Frey will "stand up to rich CEOs and special interests." 8 years later Minneapolis is a bottomless pit of corporate and special interest funded Frey-aligned PACs.

Doing a podcast is way outside my comfort zone but this election is too important! We must re-elect a progressive and pro-worker council. And, it’s time for a new mayor! Really grateful to @wedge.live for having me!!

I cannot think of a more consequential election for our city.

Disappointed mayoral challengers haven't adopted this as a stock response on encampments: "You're damn right I believe encampments shouldn't exist. I question the mayor's commitment to that goal. For yrs under his leadership we've seen an endless string of encampment tragedies."

I’m still thinking about the fact that a Strib reporter, who is herself protected and represented by a union, tried to blame Ann Kim’s mismanagement of the finances of her business and total PR flops on her workers who attempted to unionize. And used a known wage thief to try to help make the point

It is inexcusable to overturn the DFL endorsement from Omar Fateh. A small group, a majority living outside Minneapolis, met privately to overturn the will of Minneapolis delegates who volunteered, organized, and participated in a months-long DFL process. Unacceptable www.axios.com/local/twin-c...
