Reintroduction post! I'm Nick, a level designer at Respawn Entertainment where I've worked on both Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. Outside of my day job I do some TTRPG design which will eventually see the light of day. Currently I'm working on a hack for Mothership!

Late night diners are an american institution and may they never fade Had to take our cat in for an emergency vet visit and being able to sit down and get coffee, pie, and fries is such a blessing

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

I've been mulling this one over for a couple weeks, and just got the energy to write it all up tonight. No I am definitely not updating my blog at 11:30pm why do you ask

Got a breakfast monstrosity this morning Ordered a vegan egg and cheese with vegan sausage and got… a bacon egg and cheese with added vegan sausage Like I ate it and it was good, but how did no one look at that order and think “are we sure that’s what he said”

this plus the 70 year olds who would not stop talking at full volume absolutely insane movie going experience, I guess people have not been exaggerating about people completely forgetting how to behave in public after COVID. feel like we got lucky til now!

what a fantastic all-timer thread on this phenomena and the psychology behind it I think about this all the time and not understanding this is the difference between successful liminal horror, and just horrorslop. liminal horror is about the baked-in hostility of public spaces we millenials saw die

"Not every outbreak is a pandemic. Not every deadly pathogen is a pandemic pathogen. And not every unanswered question should be filled with the worst possible answer." Folks, follow @boghuma.bsky.social. This is the expertise & clarity we need right now. Signed: A plague historian.

The mysterious death of a scientist at a plague institute in Siberia has sparked “next pandemic” panic. I wrote about what we know, what we don’t, why plague is not the Black Death in 2026 and the real outbreaks we ignore while worrying about hypothetical ones. bktitanji.substack.com/p/plague-is-...

since i am working on my first new alt movie posters in *quite* a while, thought i'd share a selection of my favs from over the years ! title and description in alt text all of them are ink on claybord/scratchboard

It's funny, I was considering checking out Grand Theft Auto for the first time ever this year with GTAVI But then Blizzard decided to release the game I've wanted for like over a decade, so guess maybe I'll wait for GTAVII

Having a lot of fun with Blood of the Dawnwalker but damn, but by the end of this game my character will single handedly have made boars and wolves extinct in this region. They attack you constantly!

i try to brighten my friends’ days by sharing good news whenever i see it, but this now being the third time i’ve seen very positive climate news lately, i’m gonna get a lil mean: climate doomerism is misinformation and spreading it, even just in jest, is antithetical to the values you espouse.

I always love the NPCs in Zelda games, and the new Ocarina of Time remake trailer from the week showed a great guy strutting round town! Can’t wait to play :)

Comparing “blogging” to “AI Slop” is the type of take that emerges from being obsessed with how people talk about things instead of being interested in what things are.

You know things are going well when you’ve entered Day Three of Posting Through It.

Man I would *love* to have something like this in my area. We've got a couple great game shops which do offer space to play, but not really like this Jealous of the folks in Twin Cities!

Klaus von Hohenloe@dungeonnewbs.guide

A video that is certainly more aimed at my fellow Twin Cities folks, but even if you aren't, there may be something here for you. The Second Hand is a TTRPG play space that just opened in Minneapolis, and I love it! youtu.be/wvNu2vVsjDU

Blood of the Dawnwalker has really got its claws in me It’s got the bones of the Witcher games, but it’s really the time mechanics that put it over the top. Not having infinite time to do every single request people have for you just completely changes how you interact with the narrative, it rules

I'd love to hear what folks think about this! Does it sound interesting? Is it too much of a shift from what Mothership is at its core? I'm excited, but definitely curious if this'll just be something for my table or something other people would be interested in

not out of the woods yet, but biscuit is breathing much better than yesterday, and the cardiologist says her condition should be treatable. I am BEYOND relieved now the bad news: this has been hellaciously expensive. if you can help in any way, it'd be massively appreciated

biscuit is in the ER. she’s really sick, and she might not make it. I’m staying overnight to be near her, and then after she’s been evaluated further, I’m gonna have to make some hard decisions. keep her in your thoughts (or your prayers, if you do those)

Has anyone written about what it says about our cultural relationship with meat that cozy farming games, like Stardew Valley and Fields of Mistria, feature worlds that are fully pescatarian
