There is someone reading this right now for whom just staying alive & showing up in the world today is taking more effort than they will ever externally acknowledge. I see you. I've been you. I won't patronize you. Take today minute by minute & remember, visualize what you like.

Today, no matter how you feel, you do have strengths. You also have vulnerabilities. You also have opportunities. You also have threats to manage. All that coexists, today. Realism about it all-- refusing to bullsh*t ourselves-- is the key to sustainable trauma recovery.

Nothing special needs to happen for you to start being kinder to yourself today. Start right after reading this post. It might be awkward at first-- it's unfamiliar-- & trust, your trauma conditioning will howl & writhe & mock you for it. Which tells you you're on to something.

You don't have to give up being fiercely independent to recover from CPTSD-- but you may want to work to unwire that hard "I CAN'T let anybody else support me in ANY way" reflex that kicks in. That reflex isn't "bad." It's just overgeneralized due to trauma conditioning.

What you do to make it through today without hurting or killing yourself may not look or feel cool or elegant or sophisticated-- & none of that matters. You do what you have to do to reinforce for your nervous system & "parts" that you're on your own side & have your own back.

Overexplaining isn't just exhausting-- it also doesn't work. It doesn't support our safety or connection needs in the way our "fawn" response wants it to. I wish it did. But many peoples' invaliding behavior toward us isn't based in misunderstanding-- they just don't care.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Canadian scientists at the University of Waterloo Dr. Brian Ingalls, Dr. Sara Sadr, and Dr. Marc Aucoin have engineered “tumor-eating” bacteria that can invade and consume cancerous tumors from within. A potential breakthrough in cancer treatment research.

That thing you're struggling w/ today is not the final word on your mental or behavioral health. It's truly not. It's where you are today, w/ the strengths & vulnerabilities you have today. It's a snapshot. Don't overreact to it or get over invested in it. It WILL change.

An underrated trauma recovery hack is to keep a promise to yourself every day, something small. Recovery is largely about rebuilding that relationship w/ ourselves, & realistic self-trust accretes & compounds, day by day.

As we head into a new week, please remember that your best is good enough. Do not be intimidated by the imposters of ego or of material things. Kindness and honesty and a full effort each day is all you need to hold your head high. May your week be peaceful, my friends. 😊 #calm #peace #mindfulness

There has been very little talk of the Epstein files ever since the Iran war began. Gas prices > up. Prices of groceries > up. Trump's approval ratings went WAY DOWN! 📉 And yet, he keeps the war going. One has to wonder are the Epstein files really worth all that? Keep pushing!! #Epstein #Trump

The people who give us sh*t today very likely don't even know themselves all that well. Most humans don't, & most humans REALLY don't know themselves half as well as CPTSD survivors working our recovery. Why would we care what they think of us? They're clueless about themselves.

Poland’s Foreign Minister Sikorski: basically calling Trump a liar. “The US no longer finances this war since January of last year. In other words, for more than a year and a half. The US has not contributed a single cent to the defense of Ukraine. We are doing it. Europe.”

Shout out to every trauma survivor who has had to swallow their rage today because they have to play nice w/ somebody. Remember that it doesn't mean your anger is invalid or inappropriate-- or that you'll always be gagged like this.

Anyone remember the days when press briefings were informative and sometimes even interesting? She looks like a salesgirl in Claires or Hot Topic. This is just so embarrassing for the US.

Trauma survivors' problems do not stem from not having "challenged" ourselves enough. We've been surviving "challenges" you can't conceive of for years. Our problems stem more from distortions & reflexes-- not "choices"-- that have been deeply conditioned in us along the way.

Proper socialism should embrace automation and AI. Many of the concerns over AI disappear if we have, as a society, ensured that we are going to try and get everyone onto a basic standard of living regardless of who they are and what they do. Sure, worst case we get Wall-E, but we can do better.

The social taboo around suicide doesn't just silence conversations. It can teach us to silence ourselves – to look away from our own painful thoughts rather than investigate them with compassion & curiosity. Self-silencing shame plays no role in self-compassionate inquiry or recovery. #cptsd

Stress is not a choice. Getting triggered is not a choice. Given a choice, nobody reading this would "choose" stress or being triggered. Our choices enter the chat once we realize & accept we're stressed or triggered-- though "just don't be stressed/triggered" isn't one of them.

You don't "gaslight yourself." Gaslighting is an abuse tactic used by people trying to f*ck with your head. You are not your abuser. You may run old patterns conditioned by your abusers, but that's not the same thing. Do not buy into a metaphor that makes you the monster.

Self care is not this touchy feely abstraction that lives on aesthetic Instagram reels. It is the foundation of realistic trauma recovery & effective leadership. Warriors prioritize self-care as foundational to victory. People who ignore or belittle it will stay stuck. Period.

Brain fog & trauma triggers can make the strongest, most brilliant person in the world feel young, confused, & scared. This happens every day to lots of survivors. You're not "failing." You don't suck. Wounds sting & injuries hurt-- even as they're healing. Grace over guilt.
