Can confirm: this is INCREDIBLY rare.

Fascism protects itself by trying to make everybody complicit in its crimes. They don't want anybody to have clean hands which they can use to point at them. They want everybody to fear the end of fascism.
Make not opposing genocide hurt more than Israel works to make opposing genocide hurt. Make it hurt politicians' odds. Make it hurt artists' sales. Make it hurt medias' reputation. Make it hate platforms' revenues. Make it career-endingly devastating to stand there and "both sides" mass murder.
yeah but the way out includes taking accountability for committing almost a century of systematic theft, ethnosupremacism, apartheid, illegal occupation, torture, rape, military brainwashing & genocide and given that this fascist faux-mocracy has only existed as such, that would be remarkable
โThe purpose of the governmentโs intimidation tactics is clear: not only to terrorize the immediate critic into silence but also to send a message to others. In other words, to build the foundation of a police state.โ wapo.st/4ybPSZa
This is the purpose of data centers. Not ChatGPT that yall keep screaming about. Nobody needs 40,000 acres for a search engine
The future of mass surveillance & neo-feudalism (where we are headed) depends on the government AND corporations maintaining a permanent underclass using mass surveillance

โ[We] journalists canโt keep falling into the trap of writing these easy rage-bait type pieces. More often than not they just lead to internet-bullying campaigns and pit already-marginalized people against one another, and that only serves the powerful.โ

Psychologist @cecilietraberg.bsky.social describes the power of storytelling in science communication and education. If you want people to remember scientific ideas or boost their media literacy, you canโt just present data, you need to make them feel the story behind it.

"wow, everyone knew this already" is such a cynical, annoying and unfortunately extremely common response to tech news. assuming your privacy is being violated and proving that it is are two very different things, and the latter is the result of hard work and rigorous reporting
"Debate" has been corrupted by codifying it into a competitive sport imo; at this point it is rarely a method for good faith actors to hit upon best solutions or refine a shared reality; it's mostly a vector for bad faith actors to keep failed and destructive ideas in perpetual zombie currency.
it's understandable to think of constructive debate as an ideal and then to figure that *any* debate is therefore a step towards political values and virtues. but I think most debates, particularly in the social media age, make conversations and outlooks worse than where they started
Verbal poll!
1) Where you live, do most people say โcoyoteโ, or โbrush wolfโ?
2) Did your older relatives say โbrush wolfโ? (Skip this one if you donโt remember.)
3) Where do you live?
Iโm a 2nd-gen Torontonian. Iโve never heard โbrush wolfโ in the wild (heh). How about you?

I would like to see the end of the term "vaccine skeptic," to be replaced by "reality denier."
These so-called skeptics are actually the most gullible rubes on the planet when it comes to conspiracy nonsense and tech-bro slop; the only thing that makes them skeptical is peer-reviewed evidence.
The people who give us sh*t today very likely don't even know themselves all that well. Most humans don't, & most humans REALLY don't know themselves half as well as CPTSD survivors working our recovery.
Why would we care what they think of us? They're clueless about themselves.
Time for an introduction. I am a Dutch wildlie and paleo artist living in Norway. I work in traditional media, like watercolor, acrylics, markers and pencil. I try to bring animals close through my work.
I illustrated many books and magazines, and also exhibit my fine art ๐จ

Unfinished piece for a current commission. The client has requested a modification that will take this illustration to a different direction, but I wanted to shred this one before moving to the new version.

Itโs time for #artvsartist2025 ! The wild thing about working primarily in book publishing is that nearly all of these illustrations were done in 2023-24, but only came out this year. All the work Iโve done this year wonโt be seen until next (and so on and so forth).
