In the league table of easier trade: A FTA is surpassed by a customs union with another; surpassed by a single market with another. UK will never compensate its Brexit losses unless it agrees a customs union inside a single market with another minimum 500m consumers.. 20 miles off shore

They didn't write 'Want to be the sick man of Europe again?' on the side of a bus, did they? Would have been more informative than the NHS lie.

As tweeted so many times before, UK now an outsider to EU & every other country in the world...as more turn inwards & more protective .. EU etc can afford to do without UK goods; but UK cannot even afford to reciprocate its TCA border, never mind start any trade wars. share.google/8g4Orwxa8OJQ...

Are we at the point now where Brexit is just accepted to cause problems in all the areas is was expected to by experts who were rubbished at the time of the vote? The economy, immigration, NI, British freedom (gone) in Europe- all now worse permanently because we left the SM. Who's going to fix it?

Michael@vivamjm.bsky.social

To be honest I'm bored of all this now. None of it is, was ever, or should be "news".. The always adverse consequences & ramifications of Brexit (TCA & NIP/WF) were *always* obvious to anybody with a modicum? of understanding of trade @nick1webb.bsky.social

Ep 5 is out now wherever you get your podcasts! It's meaty and juicy but not lab grown, which is how we like our beef...

podfoodfighters.bsky.social@podfoodfighters.bsky.social

Ep5 is here! We're going big on Liz's legal challenge that could derail deregulation and seriously scupper Starmer's plans. Lab grown meat is under the microscope and somehow we sidetrack into a debate about driving before careering into the PM's comms car crash. 👇 share.transistor.fm/s/a0b08f13

Ep 4 of our new podcast is out now! Please have a listen if you're interested in keeping high EU food standards in this country rather than the alternative of cheap, dangerous US imports.

podfoodfighters.bsky.social@podfoodfighters.bsky.social

Ep 4 is out now! We're talking Trump protests, Lord Kinnock's comments on rejoining the EU and Ed Davey's damaging distractions as well as lots more- enjoy! share.transistor.fm/s/9a6def64

Episode 3 of The Food Fighters is out now wherever you get your pods!

Stephen Yaxley Lennon persuades 100k+ people to go out on the streets to protest- but what do they want? He's offering no realistic solutions. All immigration has gone up because of Brexit- guess the most effective way to lower it. @lizwebster.bsky.social @nick1webb.bsky.social

Ep 2 is out now in all the normal places- please give us a listen, we're trying to stop a dangerous change to our diets that a US trade deal would bring while highlighting the need to return to EU standards before it's too late. We also give both barrels to Farage and the far right.

If these facilities are ever used for what they were built for the UK will have border chaos with less choice and higher price of goods hitting businesses and public hard. If not used without joining SM we are an open border smugglers paradise. Both are awful options compared to SM/EU membership.

Michael@vivamjm.bsky.social

Again worth pointing out these facilities *were NEEDED* for the Brexit that UK wanted, negotiated & got. Some of us been warning since 2016 UK would not have ops ("red tape"personnel) capacity it needed for this. Brexit choices were always as follows...1/5 www.politico.eu/article/brex...

@bbclaurak.bsky.social @skynewsrss.bsky.social FYI might be worth a mention this morning?

Michael@vivamjm.bsky.social

Only so many ways I (we) can say told you so.. It's only not worse as Brexit (TCA borders) not fully done & prob now never will be, unless Reform win GE, as Labour now openly celebrating permanently unilaterally advantaging EU (their exporters)...& smuggling www.thepharmacist.co.uk/in-practice/...

Post Brexit deregulation (allowing lower standards for us plebs and even grander profit margins for the owning elite) is in full swing. It can be stopped or can get much worse. We have to let the public know where we could be headed and hold govt to account. It will affect us all if we do nothing.

“The UK is using Brexit to weaken crucial environmental protections and is falling behind the EU despite Labour’s manifesto pledge not to dilute standards, analysis has found.”

Nearly a decade on from the Brexit referendum and almost five from when Brexit was supposedly ‘done’, voters who are genuinely happy with the Brexit we have are few and far between, and no political party is seriously suggesting that it’s a success centralbylines.co.uk/news/brexit/...

My latest for Bylines. Ten years on from the Brexit referendum is it time to settle the debate once and for all? Here's why I think now's the time and how to do it.

Bylines Network@bylinesnetwork.co.uk

Brexit referendum’s 10th anniversary: time to think again? With 10 years of the Brexit referendum on the horizon, should a second referendum be in our sights? @nick1webb.bsky.social @centralbylines.co.uk

1 in 3 doctors were born overseas. 1 in 2 builders were born overseas. 1 in 6 nurses were born overseas. 1 in 4 transport workers were born overseas. 1 in 7 UK business founders were born overseas. 1 in 5 university academics were born overseas. The UK would be screwed without them.

Why use the word 'jihad' here? Johnson is associating Macron with Islamic fundamentalism and suggesting he is recruiting migrants as troops for an attack against Brexit but also an invasion from France. This sort of language is deliberate and used to cause division and rage. @dailymail.co.uk 1/2

you should be ashamed of yourselves for printing this. That the author of these words was once the Prime Minister of this country shows how low we have sunk politically. The intended links here between Islamic fundamentalist terrorism, migrants and France are clear. Deliberate poisoning of minds.

Time to start preparing the framework for a second referendum. Focus needs to be on realistic options (EU/EFTA etc pre negotiated) and effective communication of accurate information in the campaigns. Misinformation must be called out. Huge task but vital for Britain's future.

The myth of “the will of the people” has expired. The real will? Rebuild. Rejoin. Reclaim our future.

This sort of information needs to be platformed properly. While we all continue to struggle to pay bills, rent or mortgages and keep ourselves afloat financially, part of the cause of all this is UK specific and solvable. No one wants to be poorer. Real world impacts of Brexit are increasingly 1/2

U.K. lost control bc Brexit took £40 billion. New analysis shows £40bn in extra tax rises were needed just to plug the Brexit productivity gap. Now Trump tells Starmer to “cut taxes” while the UK foots the Brexit bill. Brexit is shrinking Britain #Brexit #Trump #Starmer #Tax

provable and we still haven't fully implemented the TCA (EU did this on their side of the hard border in 2021) as we can't do it without huge problems for our supply chains. EFTA/EEA membership (still Brexit) or full rejoin EU make our country more economically stable, amongst many other positives.

Tariffs are bad for both importer and exporter as they make things more expensive. As with most wars, a trade war has many more victims than beneficiaries. If Trump wanted to help US businesses he would be surely pushing for tariff free access.

Michael@vivamjm.bsky.social

Why is there so much disinformation allowed to persist over tariffs when it is so fucking easy to understand? Tariff is just a word for *import tax* paid for by the importer to its Govt & passed onto the importing country consumers. . 1/3

Another example of the complete failure of the remain campaign to highlight and explain the huge positives of Freedom of Movement (of goods, services, people and capital). If what FOM is can be clarified, and untied from illegal migration from outside the EU, we will be in a different place IMO.

Michael@vivamjm.bsky.social

More of those Brexit "benefits" some of us long warned of 😂. Brits flying into a British Overseas territory will now need EU permission to enter; EU & EFTA citizens won't... "Brits set to face two stricter passport requirements in Gibraltar under new deal" share.google/HTKqEdW5p97H...
