I've said it on a previous post but the three non-negotiable things that a Democrat must do to get my vote are the following: 1) advocating for trans rights, 2) advocating for an end to the Iran war, and 3) advocating for an end to the genocide in Gaza.

Ethan Klein is in his 40s, and her boss. She is a 27 year old fan of the show and of him personally whom he hired to work for him. The power dynamic was off from the beginning. Beyond that HE is the one who broke marital vows. She is a grown-ass woman and not blameless but he is worse.

She is both to blame for her actions but also a victim of Klein wielding a power imbalance. Most people don't fit into a perfect dichotomy of victim/victimizer. Hurt people hurt people. Shifting the whole blame to Tamara is how we see Ethan Klein come back to the internet like nothing ever happened.

Anyway it's fuck Ethan Klein first and foremost. And to a lesser extent fuck this Tamara woman even though we recognize she's kind of also a victim in this. And fuck Hila Klein NOT for this, but for her IOF service and Israel support, even though we recognize she is DEFINITELY a victim in this.

I'll go so far as to say that she's a victim, not as much as his wife of course, but she was taken advantage of by her boss, and older, wealthier man whom she had looked up to and admired long before she was hired by him to work on the show. So fuck him first and foremost I guess is what I'm saying.

Dear Pat. Have you tried NOT being a giant baby? If you're going to be on EVERY show on ESPN as your bosses seem to want, you're going to need to grow some thicker skin.

The wildest part about Pat McAfee's weird comment about the University of Utah is the video that provoked it... *this* is the video that broke him:

And it is not enough to be slightly better than their Republican opponent on these issues. They can't be like "Oh I don't think we should ban ALL trans care, just trans care for minors." No. I won't support a Democrat who fails any of these three tests regardless of their opponent being worse.

Yeah Arijit Singh has 53 million monthly listeners and is the single most-followed person on Spotify but most Americans have never heard of him. Sometimes you're just not in those circles and that's okay.

"First they came for the Communists And i did not speak out Because Matt Yglesias said that anti-communism was a strong issue for the Nazis and it would be better to wait until after the 1935 Reichstag elections ..."

Astounding how much of a little spineless prick he is.

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

"If we stand for something, people who don't like the thing we stand for might not like us. Better to stand for nothing and win by virtue of the other choice being morally repugnant."

At the same time, imagine being so shitty that Jesse fucking Singal is like "woah woah. I'm not down with that!"

every now & then someone on the anti-trans side will get cold feet about how openly ugly it's all getting—they want to keep the image of a nice, sensible centrist but it's never enough for them to get off the train

Fun fact about the federal government falling apart: The USCourts.gov Bankruptcy Noticing Center has been offline for at least a week due to a "cybersecurity incident." The website acknowledged the issue on 10/15. But it's probably been 2 weeks. The last notice my office received was on 10/8.

So if you're in bankruptcy proceedings right now, your creditors are not receiving notice and so won't be able to honor the automatic stay and cease collecting on the balance. Horrible stuff for people who are in financial distress's mental health imo.

Remember when Republicans pretended to HATE pedophiles?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Supreme Court agrees to review Reconstruction-era ban on distilling spirits in private homes.

At some point, liberals need to realize that so-called "harm reduction voting" has utterly failed to reduce any harms. Then they need to ask the next question: why?

2. Democrats are collaborators who would rather see the rise of fascism than anything that approaches actual leftist momentum. 3. Democrats are corporate stooges whose entire career is dependent on a steady stream of money from wealthy donors which might dry up if they upset the applecart.

And watch. Democrats will win back the house and senate (probably) this year. They'll win back the presidency (probably) in 2028, and they will go about the task of rebuilding the exact system that led to the rise of fascism. We'll go back to life in 2016 and wait for the next fascist to show up.

The only way to stop this is from the left of the electorate to demand the Democrats stop moving right and listen to OUR demands. Continued harm reduction voting is granting Democrats permission to move farther right, to abandon trans people, and eventually other marginalized people.

And the reason this system seems satisfactory to the bulk of Democratic lawmakers seems to be one or more of the following: 1. Democrats are feckless losers who don't want to actually wield power and rely on their opponents being actual monsters to win.

At some point, liberals need to realize that so-called "harm reduction voting" has utterly failed to reduce any harms. Then they need to ask the next question: why?

I have my thoughts. The natural result of harm reduction voting is to move the Republican party farther and farther to the right while Democrats happily move right to snatch up the few voters this alienates. Call these "employees of The Bulwark and very few others."

We could if we were dork-ass losers who think killing slavers is worse than enslaving people. I am not a dork-ass loser who thinks killing slavers is worse than enslaving people.

Erik Loomis@erikloomis.bsky.social

And we can certainly condemn his violence. But let’s step back and remember just how horrible slavery was. On December 20, 1858, Brown, who had briefly returned to Kansas, led a party into Missouri to free slaves.

Political strategy can't continue to be a group of people sitting around talking about which group to throw under the bus to gain the votes of the only slightly bloodthirsty voter.

It is a fundamental part of the conservative brain to have intense hatred for anything they don't understand.
