I'm realizing just how rich this field is and how much there is still to learn. Meaningful change might take a long time, but what we’re building already feels really cool. I'm genuinely happy and proud to be part of it :)

These are only some of the people and communities who helped shape DDS. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who contributed along the way. You have helped both me and the project grow.

DDS is now a W3C Community Group, and I think it is taking shape nicely. With every discussion, it becomes clearer and more open to the many different dimensions of deliberation.

I initially met Stuart Lynn through Voxit. As CTOs of our respective companies, we share a pragmatic focus on "getting things done," which has helped move the idea forward.

The call followed months of informal discussions with people across many different communities. Those conversations challenged the initial idea and helped reshape it.

@zhgnv.com wants to organize an online unconference for advocates of the social internet and Good Tech; such a thing could be radically simpler to do with team/conference calls layered into the @stream.place @iroh.computer product stack. none have made it their project yet though 👀

github.comNative team calls · Issue #1087 · streamplace/streamplaceAn increasingly common use of Streamplace in the Atmosphere community is to livestream a team call. To do this the streamer(s) will first set up a call via the likes of Zoom or Jitsi, and then the ...

An all-in-one conference system on atproto would be a very cool project. Something with Bluetooth beacons would be super fun, too. Attendees could enable the conference app to auto check-in to sessions. would be cool when you meet someone but their name and handle.

Use this prompt at the end of your coding session: "analyze 1/ correctness 2/ typesafety 3/ clean code 4/ security 5/ performance 6/ clean dead code. focus on your changes specifically. you're allowed to refactor, don't worry about introducing potential side-effects, prefer clean code to this risk"

I recommend you to make the agent report findings before going on with implementation, especially if you run multiple sessions modifying the same files in the same environment. One session could think another session's work is a regression and try to revert it.

He made Koko the gorilla, who could communicate with humans, laugh after she had lost her friend and had not smiled for six months. He visited children's hospitals in costume to make sick kids laugh. He supported the homeless community through Comic Relief. [15/X]

Help us reconnect? Reconfigure our neural systems on demand? And perhaps one day cure the hundreds of millions of people suffering from psychosis and dementia? [13/X]

As it is expressed in "Bicentennial Man": what if we stopped purely rationalizing, and instead let the heart speak? What if we took cognition and emotions seriously? Robin Williams was known for his immeasurable compassion and empathy. [14/X]

People whose minds work differently. People on the autism spectrum. People living with psychosis, dementia, or other conditions that can make communication with the rest of the world painfully difficult. [11/X]

While struggling with what was later identified as Lewy body dementia at the end of his life, Robin Williams kept saying: "I just want to reboot my brain." What if we could do just that? [12/X]

Individually, this becomes stress and lower life satisfaction. Collectively, it becomes polarization. Between nations, it becomes conflict spirals, arms races, or even war. [9/X]

Beyond everyday misunderstandings, what if AI could help us better understand forms of consciousness and experience that are harder for us to access? [10/X]

Decades of research suggest that the quality of our relationships -- whether we feel understood, supported, and able to count on others -- is one of the strongest predictors of happiness and life satisfaction. [7/X]

We do not suffer only because we disagree, but because we misread one another: we feel misunderstood, we mistake tone for intent, we turn difference into threat. [8/X]

What if AI challenged our own inability to transcend the limits of our cognition -- to understand worlds that are already around us, yet remain so distant from us? The world of trees. Of insects. Of fish. Of dogs. And tomorrow, perhaps, the world of AIs. [5/X]

Even within our own species, even between two supposedly rational people, we barely understand each other. Communication issues are not a minor matter. [6/X]

What if the ultimate achievement of AI was not superintelligence in the purely rational sense, but intelligence as an expansion of our capacity to empathize with other beings? [4/X]
