It's been mooted before, but I think we need to be more prepared for having two Democratic Senators from Alaska next year.

The Downballot@the-downballot.com

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski backs Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins for Alaska governor. Kreiss-Tomkins would be the state's first Democratic leader in 24 years.

It's going to be very funny to watch people come to the realization that the most likely way that Hakeem Jeffries is not the Speaker of the House over the next two years is if he's ascended to the Presidency to serve out the remainder of Trump's term.

politiBOO!@politiburb.bsky.social

Watching the GOP get put on collective suicide watch as they crash out after election day will be fun but an underrated source of joy will also be seeing the worst leftists try to post their way through the fact that Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are in charge with "not mad, laughing actually!!"

Essentially every corner of the Democratic Party except for mainstream liberals started smoking meth after Harris lost and believed the only way to win after this was to nominate and appeal to their fellow ideological tweakers. Liberals just kept doing the work though. And we're seeing the results.

It's funny because it came from all corners of the party - leftoids, Yglesias/Klein "popularists", he-man masculinists (Platner bros), the fading remnants of the Third Way - and Schumer and Jeffries just ignored them all and are now on the verge of a huge win.

Casual reminder that these are the exact same people who endorsed Kat Abughazaleh in her primary because she's perfect if you believe the American Dream is dead.

Interesting that MAGA slightly approves of the Ramaswamy ad *even when given the full context*.

I feel like people are overthinking this. No one was secretly trying to sabotage anyone, Cenk is just a straight-up Nazi and thinks voters will go nuts for Nazism so he puts it in ads for candidates he wants to win because he thinks it will help them, that is all there is to it.

Yeah, this is really bad. It's good that El-Sayed distanced himself from it, but I am in awe at how Cenk's left-wing PAC managed to combine antisemitism with transphobia and pitch it as *supporting* the Democrat in this race.

Obama’s Cheesecake Factory decor joke is going to continue to get far more play in the media, days after it happened, than RFK Jr being openly racist. Draw your own conclusions about the press based on that.

Yes the Cenk Uygur ad is antisemitic, yes it is transphobic, but it’s the *interaction effect* between the antisemitism and the transphobia that causes it to give off so many Hitler particles

Looks like we need to switch to "No, it's only the national DSA that's crazy, the local orgs are pretty good!" we'd been stuck on "No, it's only the local orgs that are crazy, the national DSA is pretty good!" for a minute there.

NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions today aimed at Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, beginning processes that could result in DSA-LA being forced to rescind its endorsement of her this weekend and/or Raman herself being expelled from DSA by January.

Dawg we are talking about 1966, no American white working man was suddenly getting left high and dry by deindustrialization or austerity or recession The only “radical shift in the material conditions” was “you have to let black people into your school/office/shop/apartment block now”

It's a real problem that so many people anywhere left of center in this country think that the path to victory for them lies in electing Republicans until Democrats do exactly what they tell them to.

You have to remember that these people spent the last week of the '24 election talking about a rabid squirrel that died, & they think that's how they won.

How racist and desperate do you have to be to look at this and say, “Got ‘em!”?

Wallahi I will make this fukken website know what happened in this country between 1966 and 1972, I have tolerated “the Dems just sold out for no reason one day and all became Big Money Uniparty Reaganites because they hate the pure and noble workers” for too long

The “something” in question was the workers themselves deciding by 1966 that they no longer wanted New Dealer welfare capitalism if it meant black Americans would benefit from it while anti-war protesters were free to burn the flag

Waldo@waldo42.bsky.social

Something happened in the 70's that crystallized politics (and many other topics) into a new set of assumptions and priors. It gave rise to Reaganism and completely crushed New Deal Socialism; Dems that eventually reemerged were and still are centrists scared of their own shadows.

The Hard Hat Riot is the single most important and consequential independently organized labor action in post-Gilded Age American history but the entire left-of-center has deliberately chosen to completely forget it because of how utterly embarrassing it is to us

a weird set of people who only exist online are people who celebrate the defeat of global fascism in every other country and are then horrified and appalled at the idea that they should also be expected to vote for their domestic opponent of global fascism if some of their stances are Problematic

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
