🚨 IMPORTANT: If you begin playing Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace at exactly 11:38:48 PM then Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray will say “Ah, Victory” at exactly midnight. Start the new year off right.

Yes the Cenk Uygur ad is antisemitic, yes it is transphobic, but it’s the *interaction effect* between the antisemitism and the transphobia that causes it to give off so many Hitler particles

Rays fans realising they're doomed to spend the rest of their lives saying "you know we actually got the tying run to base in the first two games, it was a closer series than it looks!"

Without taking anything away from the MIL pitching, which has been fantastic, three of the top six hitters in the TB lineup tonight are Ryan Vilade, Ben Williamson, and Johnny DeLuca.

BREAKING: Harry Kane humbled to celebrate what he calls “second greatest” honour of his life after his close personal friendship with “a great man, perhaps the greatest man” to whom he plans to donate this award

a weird set of people who only exist online are people who celebrate the defeat of global fascism in every other country and are then horrified and appalled at the idea that they should also be expected to vote for their domestic opponent of global fascism if some of their stances are Problematic

Congratulations to Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets, winner of the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award presented by Capital One! 👏

Lula is to my left. Magyar is to my right. And I don’t care in the slightest, because they are the candidates of democracy against autocracy.

Definitely getting the vibe that many on the right *genuinely believed* the CIA would make sure they won. (What are they even meant to do about the Supreme Court here!? A bit late to assassinate them!)

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

turns out that voting is a very good way to kick right wing authoritarians out of power

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

These two panels are still basically my reference point for Dick.

did you know 9 out of 10 flailing football clubs sack their manager *right* as he’s about to turn it around if given exactly one more Champions League fixture?

Crazy to me that the last decade has seen election predictions based on early votes become continually less reliable and yet people get more and more fixated on them

I vividly remember when conventional wisdom was that you couldn’t trust any early vote forecasts except Steve Schale in Florida and Jon Ralston in Nevada. Well Schale was wrong in 2016, and Ralston was wrong in 2024, and yet people are more obsessed than ever! May as well go read animal entrails

“Ok but it can’t be a BAD sign if X is happening in the early vote” - let me stop you right there: yes it can. Whatever X is, it absolutely can.

all this energy on early vote analysis like it’s somehow useful to figure out when different groups of people like to vote

I imagine it's pretty weird for Arsenal fans to go from 'can never get it done, always choke' to 'an absolute lock for their first back to back titles in 90 years by October and the question is if they can get over the line in the UCL this year' in a few months

the Brewers bullpen has been absolutely absurd this whole postseason. from a quick scan, I believe they've given up *three* runs in the seventh inning or later in ten games; each of these was one (1) run in three different games, and one of those was on the botched DP yesterday!
