You should be using kagi.com instead of Google. No AI summaries, paid subscription but with free searches. No data collection on customers. And you can uprank, downrank sites in results! And block sites too! And block AI pictures in image searches!

Such disappointment... 😭
Unfortunately Future Ruins will not move forward this year. The reality is, due to a number of logistical challenges & complications, we feel we cannot provide the experience that’s defined what this event was always intended to be. Rather than compromise, we’re choosing to re-think and re-evaluate.
So are the people that slow roll the stop-and-go traffic on a highway and end up smoothing out the ripples, effectively Alzheimer's of the highway? 😝 youtu.be/HzWFvkhthB8

This is a nice thread about The Onion. Thank you for saying nice things, and I can confirm the premise: If you pay your staff well, and you allow them to do what they're great at, it works better than chasing algorithms. The art is better, the truth is found easier, and—bonus!—the revenue is better.
It isn't a surprise to me that returning to print has made the Onion significantly funnier, but it is a surprise to me how *quickly* it has done so.
Hey @rocketlabusa.com, let's get Sir Peter Beck over here on bsky too 😄 I appreciate the increase in messaging parity from the main account!
Unfortunately this is not surprising, but also truly dangerous and scary www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

You probably don't often turn to the survey methodology world for a good detective story, but here is one from my colleague Anna Brown pewrsr.ch/4isAu2s

While they're at it, why don't they just replace all the refs with AI...call it Ed Grok-huli 😆 www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/...

If you think the headline is good, you should read the copy.
@planetsidemarco.bsky.social @pixelpusher84.bsky.social Hey, sorry to bother you, but any chance you can push to have Rocket Lab create parity in the messaging between Twitter and here?
Despite only showing up recently, @rocket-lab.bsky.social has already surpassed 800 followers and with more active engagement here I'm sure it would grow more quickly, especially as more people liberate themselves from that other platform 😛
And selfishly, I'm trying to cut all ties from that platform but I still really want all the launch updates from you guys ♥️ @rocket-lab.bsky.social
This is the article I've been meaning to write (more poorly) myself for months, so it looks like my procrastination has paid off because now I can just point friends to this instead 😛 Great write-up by @fastcompany.com on @kagi.com and the massive benefits of paid search!
Kagi sees an opportunity to convince people to stop turning to Google for search, quit leaning on inconsistent AI answers, and start seeking out a smarter way to find what they need.
The Pebble smart watch was brilliant and I'm so happy it might be making a comeback! Also, it's pleasantly surprising to see that Google open-sourced the PebbleOS code.
** It's happening!! ** We managed to convince Google to open source PebbleOS. Took a while, but they just did it today! github.com/google/pebble With that, we're bringing Pebble back! I blogged about it - ericmigi.com/blog/why-wer...
Make sure you've said Happy New Year to everyone you want before the statute of limitations runs out! 😂 #curbyourenthusiasm www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBBO...
Though it's unclear if it should be 3 days as referenced in that last clip, or 7 days as mentioned in this one, also from Curb 🤔 #curbyourenthusiasm #newyear www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WSX...
@greggrosenthal.bsky.social @anthonyjeselnik.bsky.social I was listening to the latest JRVP and had to point you guys at hardcover.app which is trying to create a much better/modern version of Goodreads (which has really suffered under Amazon's ownership)
The amount of user control provided by the AT Protocol, custom feeds, and moderation lists is what makes this attempt feel different and more resistant to the inevitable slide into toxicity and enshittification that has plagued prior social media platforms, and time will tell if that approach works.
Here I am on Bluesky sharing what I wrote about Bluesky. It's easy to be a wonderful social network before the numbers get big, the VCs get hungry and the crowds get mean. I asked CEO Graber: Can Bluesky stay this way and become what all of us want? www.wired.com/story/plaint...

I've been sharing this for years with fans of David Byrne and American Psycho because this is so stupidly well done and deserves 100x more views. A fantastic cover of "This Must Be The Place" by Miles Fisher youtu.be/G29d6RDSK1c
