I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

I am not certain, but I think this might be the greatest thread (and greatest use of alt text) of all time.

I've decided to compile a definitive thread of photos of the best sheep I've photographed during my walks in the countryside, together with supporting biographical information. I will put the vital story associated with each sheep in the alt text, since some of it is a little long to fit in a post.

I do not want it on my phone. I do not want it in my home. I do not want it in my brain. I do not want its supposed “gain.” Not in a book. Not “take a look!” Not in my art. Not any part. I do not want it here or there. I DO NOT WANT IT ANYWHERE.

megan@writemeganwrite.bsky.social

No, I don’t want AI to write for me. Summarize for me. Generate for me. Revise for me. Communicate for me.“Think” for me. Blur the lines for me. Make decisions for me. Influence reality for me. __________ for me. “Be” for me. This is how we lose ourselves. I don’t want it.

On this year’s long covid awareness day, I want more people to read and think about what the late Shafiqah Hudson said before it killed her. Because she was right, as usual, and also early, as usual. Perhaps too early for a lot of people to listen.

Casey Doherty@caseydoherty.bsky.social

It's International Long COVID Awareness Day. I feel so many things. I mourn those we have lost. I mourn those of us who are bedbound or housebound and pushed from society. I mourn the lifeline research, funding, and services that have been cut by this administration.

I rarely go to Superstore now but why on earth are they asking customers if they want to round up their bill and donate that difference to charity? Galen Weston can round up the bills and donate from his own wealth.

So like, what is my actual workable solution here? - respirators required in healthcare - clean air in schools and on buses; supported staying home for sick kids and workers - being honest with the public about airborne transmission; respirators and rapid tests free to public - remote work! Etc

NB COVID info@nbcovidinfo.bsky.social

4 years ago, NB abruptly went from closing due to omicron, to encouraging the hasty and deadly spread of disease. No more counting school cases, no more masks, no more isolation, no more testing required. And education and health reps were all unavailable for comment.

We don't have to keep getting sick all the time! We don't need to jeopardize people's health. For over 100 years we've known that many pathogens are airborne, and it's time we do something about it.

Nova Scotia students, families, teachers, and staff deserve good health. The province must: ❗improve indoor air quality by implementing international standards (ASHRAE 241) to decrease the spread of pathogens ❗monitor CO2 levels ❗improve school absence reporting

I’m fond of Canadians who love many things about this country but balance that love with the recognition that we share a lot of the same systems of oppression with the United States and can’t simply reduce everything to Canada good, America bad.
