Day 2 South Carolina early voting results. Voting is still more than double what we say at this point in 2022.

Average Trump scandal: many people dead after uncontroversial government program illegally cut by doge for nonexistent savings Average mamdani scandal: he’s playing BASKETBALL with his FRIENDS

I agree with this in broad strokes, but the underlying connective tissue here is more of a character problem: this administration is simply bad at authoritarianism. Their policy judgment and execution has been ham-handed and incompetent because *they* are ham-handed and incompetent

Three moments broke Trump 2.0: 1) Kimmel and other attempted censorship after Charlie Kirk. Made public see the attack on speech. 2) Minnesota anti-ICE protests, Goode and Pretti killings. Made public see the attack on rights. 3) Iran war. Made public see bad foreign policy affects them directly.

This chart is insane. This shows Russia's casualties over time compared to Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine over the last five years. No sane or rational person would say continuing the war to try and take more of Ukraine's territory is worth the casualties.

I think what it has taken people a long time to realize is that the fascist idiot screaming on a street corner and the New York Times columnist are not independent phenomena but rather different endpoints of the same media ecosystem, which Capital operates diffusely as a messaging system.

Not just pundit class — "legitimate" journalists CANNOT STOP centering fascists and racists as the only possible source of narratives.

The far right has already tapped into people's insecurities and perceptions of threat. In response, the left has become a conservative defender of the status quo. There is no scenario of the future that includes radical change and is positive and progressive. But people desire exactly that.

This county has some of the highest early voting turnout of the cycle in South Carolina.

Uncrewed@uncrewed.bsky.social

After two straight cycles of barely losing it, the South Carolina Democrats are optimistic about flipping #HD116 next month. This suburban Charleston seat only backed Trump by 0.6%, so it should be a win on a good night for Democrats. SLEW RATING: Lean D (FLIP)

Can't wait until this dude finally shuts the fuck up.

Trump on Katie Zacharia: "She was a perfect, beautiful woman. When she walked in to the press room and they started screaming at her, she freaked out. And I said, 'You know what? There are nicer ways to make a living.'"

What's especially funny about Matty's take is that the events in Minnesota can be seen as the straw that broke the back of Trump and MAGA. It may have been the most consequential thing.

Once again York (Charlotte), Berkeley (Charleston), and Greenville absolutely crushing on turnout.

County level results. There's interesting ones here are York (suburban Charlotte), Greenville, and Berkeley (suburban Charleston), as well as the relatively strong black belt performance.

It is rarely highlighted, but Russia controls less Ukrainian territory today than it did in March 2022. Having occupied roughly 27% of Ukraine at its peak, Moscow's control has dropped below 20%. It is a monumental strategic failure

And yet there are many more people voting in these areas than during the last midterm.

“Several polls show self-identified Republicans approximately 4 percent to 6 percent less likely to vote than Democrats on Nov. 3, with the lowest percentages seen in the Charleston and Greenville areas” www.postandcourier.com/politics/sc-...

I wish more voters could see the big picture. If we could stop obsessing on day to day tweet wording we might see it. When Dems hold power, more people get healthcare coverage. When GOP holds power the number goes the other way. Very simple.

People who think it's bad to fix things for people shouldn't be involved in public life. Go join a think tank or something.

People who complain that Burnham is "wasting his time" on things that are very easy and low-cost for the government but make a significant difference to people's everyday lives don't understand politics imo. If this was all he was thinking about as prime minister, sure, I would worry, but it's not

NBC News poll: 71% of U.S. adults think the country is on the wrong track. For the first time in Trump's second term, 'right track' has sunk into the 20s. Trump's approval is just 76% with Republican adults. His approval is 21% with independents.

More evidence South Carolina is changing very rapidly

Panemprius@panemprius.bsky.social

By share of population in Census Vintage 2025 (July 2024 to July 2025), South Carolina gained the most from domestic migration (+1.20%, +66,622) and New York lost the most (-0.69%, -137,586), followed by Hawaii (-0.62%), Alaska (-0.61%), D.C. (-0.60%), and California (-0.58%).

Markwayne Mullin reveals that the Trump admin is trying to build a RICO case against Ilhan Omar: "There was conspiracy to deceive the American govt, and therefore everything else that came in with it could then be looked at as the same case ... the statute of limitations on things, they don't apply"

🇺🇸‼️🇺🇦 Trump: Look, it really began with Barack Hussein Obama when they made them give up Crimea. Crimea is most valuable part, by far, of Ukraine. You know what I'm talking about. Four sides of ocean. Most beautiful piece of land. I'm a real estate developer. I know good land. They gave up Crimea.

What if an entire country had two full years to look itself in the eye and internalize the idea that they'd elected the King Of The Rapists to steal money out of their wallets, murder their neighbors, and shit in their food. Is it theoretically possible such an event would effect opinion polls
