I know I’m getting old when I’m excited to use my birthday coupon at Target to get an extra 10% off the anti-fatigue padded mat I’m getting to put at my standing desk at work cause it’s killing my knees to stand all day 🥲

Wake up. Make breakfast. Do email. Watch a murder. Go to a party for a 5 year old. Laugh with my daughter. See a different angle of that murder. Hear govt officials slander the victim. Play Barbies with my kid. Feed her dinner. Tear up at that victim reading last honors to a vet. Put kid to bed. USA

Remember: they used thousands of academic books too! If you’re a scholar, check for your books too. This isn’t just novelists and pop writers, it’s academic books too!

I don't think it was a financial decision at all. It was all about having power over other human beings, especially their own workers and servants, and MeToo, BLM and 3% unemployment all were huge threats to that power.

Last week someone made this point, a lot of money people (including tech) made a very clear, very calculated decision that authoritarianism, even a corrupt kleptocracy, was better for them financially than risking Dems doing a wealth tax/tax fairness etc. It was an eyes-wide-open choice.

I guess I can appreciate my iphone turning on the headphone volume notification but it kinda makes me want to never freaking use it if I'm connected to my bluetooth speaker while I'm trying to meal prep and it keeps lowering the volume for my safety and instead I'm raging out while cooking

I grew up going to protests with my mom, so it always seemed normal. But in talking with a friend I was reminded it's not normal for most people, and maybe even intimidating! Maybe this is you but you also feel like you should maybe protest these days (nationwide: April 5). This thread is for you 🧵

I genuinely don’t understand the people who are tuned out to politics. Like my brain just slips off of the idea. What do they worry about all day? Are their (day-to-day) lives better for it? Am I just anxious and depressed and follow it as a semblance of control or does it cause those feelings?

You are up to date.
