Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

My favorite thing is when someone is mocking a celeb's bad plastic surgery and then they point to other older celebs who have "aged gracefully" as a comparison, but the reality is that they clearly just had way better-quality plastic surgery. Please be so serious!!!

Calling evil leaders dumb has become a spectator sport. Dismantling the systems that usher these evil people into office? Folks overall seem pretty disinterested.

95% of people complaining about “coastal elites” have never had an RC cola, are afraid of fireworks, and can’t change a tire

Scott Lemieux@lemieuxlgm.bsky.social

Honored to be made a "coastal elite" because I think the more than two centuries in which the White House wasn't a gaudy monstrosity was not in fact an insult to ordinary working people

Google was really trying to hide its water use figures, to the degree that it got the council to try to keep its water use figures secret. The community finally got the actual numbers and found out Google was using 29 percent of the water in the community. www.wired.com/story/what-t...

Whoever is in the booth at the Kentucky-Vandy game and cut to the reaction of Kentucky Michael Myers after Vanderbilt's TD deserves a drink

call me a lib too then, this is one of the most important issues in the usa imo and directly correlated with almost every other major issue with have in this country

I hate those stickers even on regular Teslas (trade it in man, those cars cost enough that you can! Or just own your buying decisions!) but this one made me laugh

lol @ the cyber truck with the “I bought this before Elon went crazy” bumper sticker

It sounds like hyperbole to suggest the current administration WANTS measles to become common again but I can’t think of much they’d be doing differently if they didn’t want that. (I think some of them really are eugenicists who legit prefer disease spread to prevention; others just don’t care)

David Ho@davidho.bsky.social

The CDC denied a request from California, Hawaiʻi, Oregon, and Washington to validate a high-volume measles test, citing “other priorities.” 🤨

Could not watch more than 10 seconds of the clip of Julia Stiles dancing to Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You in DWTS (a show I’ve never even fully watched) without crying because of Heath Ledger, the first celebrity death that made me actually weep and the last until Dolly Parton this year

I can't find the person's tweet now, but my all-time favorite variation of "what would the founding fathers say" is "What do you mean there are Catholics on the Supreme Court"

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

how all of these conversations would actually go

Nothing wakes you up in the morning like being a lead editor and seeing none of your articles published overnight or this morning (seems to be a PHP or company-wide issue and not something we messed up at least)

Never had ultrasound problems with my two boys. But today I had to have a follow-up ultrasound for this girl after my anatomy scan failed to capture her heart/lungs because she would not get in the right position. She was in the wrong position again this time, but this technician was more persistent

I didn't even know they DID ultrasounds for an hour. I think I was in and out in 15-20 minutes for both older kids with full reports ready, one time each. The technician was shaking me and moving me around. Tried vaginal and abdominal ultrasounds for different positions. Full and empty bladder etc

Tim Robinson never got his due at SNL but my household quotes/sings/refers to this maybe more than any ITYSL bit. I’ll never think of this song normally again or even the entire sport of basketball.

Pete Buttigieg is within walking distance of me rn lmao

Goad (Legal Expert)@goad.bsky.social

Hello fellow legal experts. I am at the Henrico Theater in Henrico, Virginia. Former Secretary of Transportation and Nathan Fielder lookalike Pete Buttiege is holding a rally to support Virginia Democratic Congressional candidates Tom Perriello, Elaine Luria, and Shannon Taylor.

One of the best fake posts I’ve ever seen on Reddit. I’m only mentioning it’s clearly fake because otherwise y’all would, btw. I want to play kayfabe rules here but online won’t let us. Glad professional wrestling came about before instant online replies did.

If my milquetoast centrist Democrat purple-state governor who loves cops and corporations can defend trans people, and so does Abdul El-Sayed in a hotly contested swing state election, so can Talarico and any other Democratic candidate. I really can’t get past it y’all.

Last call for contributions to this year’s Poecast. Read, make music, make noise, do some avant garde interpretation of a story, whatever you want. Deadline is 10/27, podcast up before Halloween, cassette in mid/late 2027.

New cassette of the Edgar Allan Poecast Vol 3 (there will never be a vol 2) arrived in the wrong shell color. Featuring @notreallyjcm.bsky.social, @saracentury.bsky.social, me, Maria Bamford (really! Briefly!), and some others. grayromantics.bandcamp.com/album/edgar-...

hmm I don't think wealthy people should be allowed to exist if they can't assimilate to a culture of normalcy and contribute to society in a positive way. They have to earn their spot here or go back home to hell. I don't like their weird customs and regressive ideologies. It's not American.

I'm a Nathan Fielder superfan, and of course I want to see EVERYTHING this weekend, per the promise of Elizabeth Holmes, but I'm lying to everyone if I don't say that in my heart of hearts, I wish I was seeing the Sense and Sensibility remake first or instead. DO NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT LOOSE HAIR

I haven’t seen any AI is people/LLMs have feelings arguments because nobody I follow unmuted is an idiot and I don’t hang out on social media platforms where that’s happening either
