🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time It's an out-and-out lie But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀 *They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻 In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄 1/33

Amen. Also, anyone else still posting on X should challenge themselves as to whether they would still be on it, if it was owned by a Russian oligarch with close ties to Putin.

Riddle me this. If somebody donates £36 million to a political party and £5 million to its leader, how is the £5 million not political? Asking for a parliamentary standards commissioner.

Wonder what it is about off shore tax hating billionaires being so drawn to Nigel Farage's "people's party"

🚨 BREAKING: Crypto billionaire Ben Delo has donated £36m to Reform UK - the biggest ever donation to a UK political party

Vincenzo reposted

A reminder that Delo previously pled guilty in the US to violating money laundering protections and agreed to pay a $10 million fine for "willfully” breaking the law with his BitMex platform, which was described as "in effect a money laundering platform.” This is who owns Farage now

The BBC still manages to try and minimise Farage's direct involvement with their headline. He's filmed being told Reform accepted illegal donations and saying 'Yes, thank you'.

BBC News - The secretive crypto firm backed by Farage's biggest donor www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... This is a really good BBC article on Farage. It really shows how nefarious his £5m g(r)ift and involvement with didgy crypto is, how much it stinks of corruption. Boot him out, vote Binface!

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23

🚨FURY as Thames Water to host Careers Day for Refugees 🚨 Apparently...🤔 Who are all these furious people, making this newsworthy across several newspapers, TV channels, radio shows and countless YouTube videos? 🧵 1/23

Less than 24 hours after its publication, this is now the 42nd article on my BBC News app, all the way past the silly stories, showbiz and sport. Would this be getting so little attention from the BBC if it was Labour or even the Tory party being involved in this kind of scandal?

I really wanted this Burnham speech to leave me hopeful and was actively rooting for it. I found it deflating - to put it mildly. Where it needed to be brave and expansive, it was small and meek. Let me give one example that I found quite instructive, since Andy used it as a framing device. 1/

Ukraine is holding back Russia and thus fulfilling the entire traditional mission of NATO without any soldiers or sailors from other countries. Trump is meanwhile demanding NATO allies leave the continent they are supposed to be defending to join him in a doomed adventure he chose in the Middle East

It's not even him any more. It's the legion of minions. Those snivelling, squirming, faceless, loose-shoed head nodders in back of shot. Every ounce of self-respect squeezed out of them by the school bully till they can't even take a dump unless he gives his blessing.

The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party. Was never a problem for Jeremy Clarkson. Was never a problem for Andrew Neil. Was never a problem for Alan Sugar

Robin Ince reveals to last night’s audience at a recording of Infinite Monkey Cage that the BBC has forced him to resign over his support of trans people

Vincenzo reposted

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Trump’s “drug war” around Venezuelan tankers is a smokescreen for oil politics. The US needs Venezuela’s heavy crude to feed American refineries built for this thick crude oil. Venezuela is the world's biggest producer and Trump is a thief who wants to steal it. That's the story.

This is how Chris Mason, like a child filled with wonder, described "the choreography and theatre that surrounds a Budget" in Feb 2024, when a male Tory Chancellor was in post. "Plans, or even just options, can be floated... Reaction to them can be tested. Opponents can be teased or wrongfooted." 👀

So much for all that bleating about being misled by the Treasury from the BBC's political editor Chris Mason ..... www.ft.com/content/48c2...

In 2025 alone, The Telegraph was forced to publish over 100 corrections, clarifications, and formal regulatory apologies, significantly more than the 33 corrections the BBC was forced to make, despite the BBC's larger output. Who's getting fired at the Telegraph then?

To allow the BBC to be defunded, decayed & ultimately destroyed by right wing ideologues is to finally submit to a society based on callousness & selfishness, and an end to what we have claimed for generations to be true British values. We must fight for it.

Vincenzo reposted

If there is a national institution that reflects, represents, and encompasses the shared social and cultural values of the UK, it is not the royal family, it is the BBC. Ultimately that's why the Tories hate it, because it is a bulwark against selfish individualism.

The BBC employ roughly twice as many people as the UK fishing industry. You'd think people would question Farage's patriotism and intentions wanting it shut down.

After a very good Commons speech only on Monday, about how politicians must not seek to scaremomger and inflame, it is very disappointing to see @maxwilkinson.bsky.social jump on the moral panic.

Remember all the media attention when 50-70 prisoners a year were released in error under the Tories? Yeah, me neither. This is not new so why is it only making headlines now? *From 2010 through roughly 2023, the number of prisoners released in error was around 50 to 70 per year*

I often wondered how this photo could happen. How did they find so many seemingly 'regular' people willing to sign up to be concentration camp guards and commit atrocities (and apparently enjoy their job). Now I know.
