4.1.0 のリリースまで2か月ちょっとではあるけど、Windows の long を 64bit にするというのを滑り込みで入れることができそう。これでやっと 2GB+ の File をオープンして sha を計算するとかができるようになるかなあ。

Is it just me or does the #OneNote ink features not work great on Android tablets like the #Samsung S11? The Samsung Notes app inks very well, so it's not the S-Pen at fault. #PC

Very interesting day of discussions at #railsworld! Introduced a few folks to JRuby, talked with some current users I did not know, even found one shop that only does JRuby. A bit sad to see folks struggling with problems JRuby solves. Hard to get the word out!

Like clockwork, I go to a Ruby event and meet JRuby users I never knew about! Just today, three people who used JRuby at previous jobs and two more that currently have apps in production. Gotta figure out how to reach these folks without speaking at every Ruby conference! 🤣

My own experiments using AI for JRuby work have been mixed, but I can report a great success: contributions from people that never would have attempted such things before, like Ruby core devs and Rubyists with no JVM experience. So many PRs lately! github.com/jruby/jruby

The great thing with going to watch a #Musical is that the band always plays the songs you know and could sing along to (but the bad thing is that you're not allowed to!) #theatre

Narrator: Yes, it was.

I guess it's a really bad idea to watch #TimMinchin as Judas before going to watch a live production of #AndreLloydWeber & #TimRice's #JesusChristSuperstar in #Singapore? The Arena Tour 2012 cast was so very good - wish I had been able to see that live. #Musical #Theatre

I've waited 33 years from when I heard it first as a plucky 16 year-old to watch #JesusChristSuperstar performed live. No more! That ends tonight at the Marina Bay Sands theatre in #Singapore. Too bad my 9 y.o. isn't allowed in. #Musical #Theatre

If you bought the ebook of Programming Ruby 4 you should be getting an email with a final beta before production. Also, if you have an ebook of Programming Ruby 3.3, you should also be getting an email with an update.

Rails + AI models, which to use? Along with the Rails Foundation we benchmarked the performance of eight AI models against atomic tasks and evals. We found that Opus 4.5 is slightly more accurate and affordable than Fable, but slower. Kimi K3 gives you similar results for almost half the price. 🧵

Is there now an easy (or slightly complicated) way to move #Microsoft #Whiteboard documents from one Outlook/ Live account to an M365 account? One of the good things with "desktop / files" is this ability to just cut and paste the files from one place to the other.

What does this do? Does it mean I can use my LG Magic Remote from the TV as a mouse for my phone or tablet? #Samsung #LGTV #Tech

After you take a snip with the Snipping Tool in #Windows11, you can right click on the window in the taskbar and select to take a time delayed screenshot - it used to be in the snipping tool UI when you started it and was convenient... but at least it is some place #Tech

The fact that you can just use the S-Pen from the #S24Ultra on the #Samsung #S11 Tablet feels magical, and like a game changer in some ways since my phone is always with me anyway! technology

Got my copy 😍 The 2nd edition contains chapters on concurrency (incl. Ractors) static typing (RBS, Sorbet) and code optimization (profiling, JIT) – straight from a Ruby committer. I admire Jeremy Evans for his dedication, though being a technical reviewer isn’t the easiest either 😅

Postgres 18. uuidv7() applied as a new PK column default. Inserts at 2-10K calls/minute. Inserts total time dropped from 1 millisecond to around 50 microseconds, about ~20x faster. Thanks to Postgres developers for this work which enables PK index maintenance to be much more efficient!

I've continued to be working hard on RubyEverywhere.com I have made great strides towards the Android, iOS and Desktop pieces and they're going strong. There's places you can hook native code and extensions and packages if you need them. #ruby #rails #native #hotwirenative #iOS #android
