Long-context models are coming to our phones and laptops. Sevren (the new kid on the European block) ported FlashPrefill V2 to MLX, bringing block-sparse attention to Apple silicon giving a 1.78X speedup on 32K tokens. OS code: github.com/sevren-ai/Fl... Blog post: sevren.ai/blog/flashpr...

Typer 0.27.0 comes with improved help formatting for parameters, types, etc. ✨ Maybe a "breaking change" if you are testing for literal content 🤓 Part of something BIG @oxykodit.bsky.social is working on, coming soon 🍿 Building a CLI? I would use Typer 😎 github.com/fastapi/typer

FastAPI, Typer, SQLModel, Asyncer All bundle their own Agent Library Skills ✨ Let your agents (Codex, Claude, Cursor, etc) help you write good code and avoid gotchas 🤓 New SQLModel and Asyncer just released with their own library skills 🔖 library-skills.io

Looking for a software engineer to help maintain your OS repo? I currently have availability for a part-time open-source engagement. Preferably, focused on data, evaluations, NLP/ML/LLM. I work as a consultant through my company OxyKodit. DM me if you'd like to explore working together!

FastAPI 0.137.0: a big internal refactor for routers 🏗️ You are probably not affected, unless you are iterating on the internal router.routes, then check the docs 📝 If you use any third-party package that modifies FastAPI's internals and it stops working, let them know 🤓

Your FastAPI is safe 🔒 Today, FastAPI was incorrectly flagged as malicious by automated tooling from a large company, among several other packages. FastAPI was not compromised. It was a false positive. We were not contacted before publication. This should not happen to OSS.

most of these github actions driven breaches are because of pull_request_target. here's some tips of what to look for when reviewing your own workflows. worth noting - it is safe, and necessary, when used correctly 🧵

Don't miss it!

Since I go through my github notifications on a FIFO basis, but I only keep the latest email per issue, whenever someone posts “any updates?” it moves that issue right to the bottom of the queue and I think that’s kinda poetic.

Somewhere along the line **someone** has to do the uncomfortable work of understanding what the hell is going on with the code and project (and keeping that understanding current in the face of ongoing changes to the project) Vibe coding is trading that understanding for short-term gains

Awesome team! 🫶
