Today, the people of Serbia turned out in record numbers to shape their country’s future. Congratulations to the Student List on its victory in the parliamentary elections.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

Honoured to attend the commemorations of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution in Budapest. 70 years ago, Hungarians rose up against oppression. They fought for freedom, democracy and justice. The very values at the heart of Europe today. Their courage lives on.

EU Member States are serious about protecting the International Criminal Court and a world governed by international law. In The Hague, I met ICC President Tomoko Akane to convey the EU’s strong support for the Court, its judges, and their work.

We are opening more doors for the next generation. Proud that today, @europarl.europa.eu voted to strengthen Erasmus+, making it more accessible and increasing its funding. So more young Europeans can broaden horizons, discover new paths and gain the skills they need to succeed in their careers.

The slithering back to even vaguely positive or optimistic analyses of Trump’s second term after the abominations of January 6th cleared the way for today’s abject betrayal of the Ukrainian people. It’s astonishing how many public figures on both sides of the Atlantic are complicit in the crime.

With the KIDS Act, we are putting parents back in the driving seat. And the burden of proving safety, on the platforms. Because the question is not whether kids should have access to social media. The question is whether social media platforms should have access to our children.

Congratulations to lawyer and human rights activist Navanethem “Navi” Pillay on her Nobel Peace Prize. Few have devoted their lives to justice, peace and human dignity like she did.

20 years since Anna Politkovskaya was murdered. A fearless journalist who refused to look away, even when facing threats and attempts on her life. She refused to be silenced, continuing to speak out against corruption and abuse.

The EU has clear interest in stable, prosperous, and sovereign Lebanon. We are backing this with substantial political, economic, and security support. Our new European Union Support Mission to train and advise the Lebanese Armed Forces will be a major upgrade of our security ties.

On International Lesbian Day, we celebrate lesbian women and stand up for a simple principle: Everyone should be free to be themselves and love who they love — free from discrimination, exclusion or violence. 🧡

A little Dublin slang for you: yo-yos. That's what we call euros, as in, “A head of cabbage will set you back 2 or 3 yo-yos.” Why are we telling you this? Putting together a Worldcon bid costs money! Our bid is looking for support from those in the wider SFF community who have the means to help!

It was a privilege to meet His Holiness Leo XIV. We discussed Russia’s war against Ukraine and the need for a just and lasting peace, the situation in the Middle East and the urgent humanitarian needs, as well as the growing danger posed by societal polarisation and AI. (1/2)

When the devastating 2019 earthquake struck, Europe stood by Albania. And we stand by you to this day. EU4Schools is a moving example of this solidarity. It rebuilt 63 schools. Schools like Emin Duraku, which I have the pleasure of visiting today.

Today, science became a target for Russia. My heart goes out to the heroes searching for people trapped inside Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences. As well as to the families and loved ones of the victims of horrific attacks across the country.

Russia has been carrying out attacks against Ukrainian civilians again. Ukraine needs more Patriot interceptors before winter. We are calling on Member States that have them in their stocks to provide them to Ukraine. (1/2)

The agreement to release €6.6 billion from the European Peace Facility for Ukraine is excellent news. It means more support, from training to equipment. It complements what we are doing through our Ukraine support packages – for the state and for defence. More is coming from our side. Very soon.

EU Member States have agreed on the terms for releasing €6.6 billion European Peace Facility funds for Ukraine. That’s good news for Ukraine and bad news for Russia. €900 million are for the EU’s Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine. €1 billion will fund new joint procurement of equipment (1/2)

And €4.7 billion will reimburse Member States, with some already saying they will channel their share to Ukraine. Moscow’s hybrid attacks try to intimidate Europe into scaling back its support for Ukraine. Europe is doing the opposite. (2/2)
