The greatest challenge of our time isn’t to figure out how to get to Mars or become interstellar, but to figure out how to live sustainably on Earth.

This is specifically why "just try it, just use it, give it a go, just take a hit" is a plea for you to experience the rush of acquisition and achievement without doing any of the work required to *actually* achieve something They want you to be as dazzled as they are, rather than assess quality

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via study that still underestimates climate cost. This isn’t about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice. #citymakingmath

Spirit Airlines went under and left behind 500 million Teams messages. Google bid $10m. A startup building AI agents to work inside simulated companies bid $12.5m. Ten years of telling people to work out loud, and here we are. By me for @reworked.bsky.social www.reworked.co/collaboratio...

I've added a link to the English translation. How race-scientists weild systematic doubt and participatory scrutiny in order to recast themselves as arbiters of truth. The 3 year hunt for Jason Arday wasn't only about his destruction. The ultimate trophy is epistemic dominance.

This iconic Fabian Todorovic cartoon is still one of the best I’ve seen at illustrating the remarkable amount of space we surrender to cars, leaving little space left for everyone and everything else. The text added later makes the bonus point that many drivers still manage to complain about it.

The fundraising texts you delete are working on someone. It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. An 85yo in Ohio gave more than double the value of his home. A 91yo in an Indianapolis senior facility gave 25K times. The DCCC/DSCC don’t just tolerate the spammers who exploit seniors. They take part.

our entire global financial system is currently leveraged to the hilt on the premise that it was good and right for a small cadre of US companies to steal all of the intellectual work ever produced by humanity and sell its back to us without credit or remuneration to the authors (plagiarism)

The Trial is a great piece of theatre because it explores in painful detail a fact we all already know - the wreck families go through when “entrepreneurs” cut corners to prioritise profits, and transfer the risk and consequences to everyone else. #EIF #Edinburgh

I think it would have made for a more interesting play to tease out how a decision (taken by a group apart from the community) was like releasing a wrecking ball, that breaks everything it touches in its path.

Absence of the different parties from what is a complex story, and letting the pathos carry the thrust of the arguments ends up making this into a family drama, when it could have been so much more.

The performances are bold and the director has managed to bring contemporary themes well into the dialogue. I think the substance of the case itself makes the eventual “verdict” rather predictable.

Two faction fight tooth and nail to have their pain and suffering acknowledged and compensated for, but it’s only setting up the victims and the wrecked against each other. While the actual culprits, the very reason for the damages in the first place, are conspicuously absent from the trail.
