Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

“Paris has embarked on a grand transformation, planting 155k trees, adding hundreds of kms of bike lanes, pedestrianising 300 school streets and banning cars from the banks of the Seine. Parking has been turned into green space…Fewer parents fear their child being run over when they walk to school.”

The votes are still being counted, but one thing is clear: First Past the Post is broken. 🗳️MPs elected while 2/3 of voters opposed them. Majority governments on a quarter of the vote. 3) There’s three years to go. Farage in Downing St is not guaranteed. But Labour, one way or the other, can’t go on like this. 4) Scotland and Wales to come. And they’re going to hurt.

Awful of the BBC. How can they distribute a video that clearly shows that the official US government narrative is a lie without also stating that it's a lie? There aren't two sides to every story. Two news angles, yes: - Reality of what happened. - Official lying cover-up. But not two sides.

Sunder Katwala (sundersays)@sundersays.bsky.social

The BBC coverage is absolutely terrible. It leads on "sharply contested narratives" It has a dramatic skew to the US government It has posted the video but has failed to report on what it shows: it shows the US govt account is untrue

You may’ve seen coverage of a new report on the threat to national security from environmental collapse. A common response that’s got my goat is: “Look, it’s not just tree-hugging enviros saying this, it’s hard-nosed spooks!” A short thread on why this framing is bad history & bad politics🧵😡😉

This study predicts UK energy spending to halve by 2050, as part of our ‘rush’ to net zero….:) Five years ago I flagged this incredible fact in my book Manifesto - we spend £50 billion a year to bring oil and gas into our country - just to burn it. Good to see it in this study. buff.ly/OBwYgKG
