I swear that I’ve been getting no fewer than two dozen texts a day asking for money. Sometimes texts naming the same candidate will come minutes apart. It’s absolutely vile and has honestly stopped me from donating more this cycle. They just *feel* like scams.

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.
