Hi! I’m developing a warioware DIY like game in Godot in my spare time, and post videos of it from time to time. Here’s the latest one! #godotengine #indiedev #gamedev

The DIY Micro Game maker is not dead yet! I’ve been working on UI for it in my spare time. But that spare time is not much right now.

What I would like to see is a single box with the whole LCG campaign and preconstructed character decks a la Gloomhaven JOTL. Upgrades are deck specific choices. Once the campaign is complete, it’s complete. Include some legacy mechanics (new rules, closed mystery boxes) and it would be perfect!

My main issue with LCG and CCG is the need to understand the meta, store lots of cards, make decks… I know it’s fun, but I don’t have the time any more. That’s why I like deck builders, or even card roguelikes. But I miss the campaign aspect, the scenario-in-a-deck.

Fantasy Flight Games and Second Dinner (Marvel Snap devs) should kiss and make a digital version of Arkham Horror LCG. Core campaign and characters for free. Additional campaigns offer the first scenario for free. Complete campaigns as paid DLC/Expansions. Individual characters as paid DLC.

I really wish this were true. Fantasy Flight LCGs are great, but the ONLY digital implementation (LOTR) was awful and butchered. FFG has the experience of doing narration in games (see Mansions of madness and Descent apps). THATS the kind of narrative AHLCG should aim for.

#gameidea: Up to 5 players multiplayer turn based coop tactics game with premade scenario specific characters and specific multiple objectives. Scenarios last up to 3 hours with 5 players, the completed objective determines the next one. 1/🧵

After ending all campaigns, you can play one final scenario with a mix of sides on one team. 5 endings: win for each side, all sides lose, all sides win. Multiplayer is campaign based. No levels, no experience but the one you get from playing the game. 7/🧵

Complexity ramps up in the scenarios by introducing scenario specific mechanics, and then mixing them later in the campaign, or evolving them. No bullet sponges. Worse that can happen is an scenario having stages. No skirmishes. No custom scenarios. No custom characters. 8/8

Every turn casters select what to do, either add a new word to the spell (power up or mutation), cast a defense spell (small power up in exchange for a defensive shield), or stop the cast. They can also change the aim. 5/🧵

Story is told from all sides, no one team us the good one. 3 sides. Focus on scenario objective, not damage. 5 scenarios of 3 hours to get an ending. Every side has a campaign but last 2 scenarios are shared amongst all. 6/🧵

Character synergy is essential. No support classes, just different weapons (which might be held by the enemy!). Spells have a Casting/cooldown timer, mana as ammo. You can’t get mana from defeated enemies or other sources. Limited and per scenario. 3/🧵

This means spells are op, but are really limited and require time to be cast (while holding still). When a player starts casting, they select a starting word and stay put chanting until their next turn. 4/🧵

Physical Ranged attacks have an ammo limit. Melee attacks don’t have a limit. But you can change weapons from defeated enemies (not grab their ammo). Weapons have 1 or 2 effects besides damage, which can be chained with other weapons/spells. 2/🧵

I’m currently donating $5 monthly even though I haven’t shipped a game on Steam, because I think this is a great project that will help me and other people in the long run. If you can, please donate, too!

Damn it. We need the Godot Asset Store, now!! I’m absolutely certain the dev behind GodotSteam would have been sustainable a year ago making their plugin a $50 purchase. Besides, some of the games usimg his plugin have been successful. Maybe they could donate? I will when Rift Riff makes money.

All the tutorials about testing web exports in Godot are like "You need to install Python and create a local server" You don't! It's built into the editor. Once you've set up a web export, click this new icon in the play bar and click Run in Browser. It's a nice time-saver for jams.

Given the rumors of a new steam controller being similar to a steam deck... Would it be possible for Valve to enable the Steam Deck as a Controller for a PC? I know this is possible using the Steam Link features, but I mean setting the steam deck as a controller... to be even an MFI device.

Can’t develop my indie game/app right now because real life demands too much time and I need to pay the bills. My mind keeps thinking of new game ideas, ranging from puzzle games to big multiplayer ideas. I wish this was my day job and it paid enough 🙁

“Now that I’ve got a drawing tablet, drawing for my game should not take that much time and the quality will be better” Narrators voice: it wasn’t #indiegamedev

Well, roaming areas with reflection movement have been fixed! Now, when the area is narrower than the object, it will fix the position in that axis (both axes, even, making the object stationary).

#devlog: I’m currently working on roaming areas. Last night got basic reflection working, and now I should do bouncing and insect movement. PS: Holy crap 700 followers? Thank you! #godotengine #indiedev #indiegame

#SehnsuchtGaming A videogame comes with a paper with some random points on it. As I play through it, some markings are given to me, showing me how to connect the dots in the paper. At one point I’m stuck, and I realize that if I fold the paper like so, the markings show the answer to continue!

Sehnsucht means "longing", "desire", "yearning", or "craving". I feel like this game exists, or should exist. Having played great board games with similar ideas (Exit, Unlock, and others…), I’d like to see digital + physical connections that make you go 🤯 But it doesn’t exist, so #SehnsuchtGaming

There's some functions not yet implemented (roaming inside an area), and a few graphical bugs (art is not rezised correctly and z index not correctly applied), but I couldn't help but draw some of this nose cleaning game. #godotengine #indiedev #gamedev

Just came to realize the "preview" screen in the videos I post is a gray square... not too appealing. Will have to invest time in making a decent start screen instead of a single giant gray square button.
