America has never had a king. All it’s had was us. Still, some will tell you that showing up on No Kings Day means you hate this country, but they have it exactly backwards. Nobody gets up to march on a Saturday for a country they’ve given up on. You do that for a country you love. (link below)

I was honored to visit Our Lady Salam, the first Arabic-speaking Lutheran parish on Staten Island. Its congregants hail from as close as Hylan Blvd to as far as Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, & Egypt — yet have planted roots in our city. Many carry the weight of war and genocide daily.

The constitution provides that states run elections. The federal govt does not. There is no legal authority for Mullin to take over elections, issue mandates & rules, or threaten elections officials with prison for failure to comply with unlawful orders. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Malinowski: Is he going to fire John Ratcliffe, who was in charge of his daily briefing? He's implying that China was part of some nefarious conspiracy… Is he going to sanction his friend XI jinping, who he's kissing up to every single day?

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

As someone who’s been doing candidate recruitment for a decade: This is so so so aggressively NOT how you do it.

Molly Jong-Fast@mollyjongfast.bsky.social

The Platner story shows how political consultants should not parachute into a state and pick a candidate. There were a bunch of solid Democratic candidates in the state. Maybe the elites don’t know better than the people who actually live in the state?

This is the same person that the GOP cult loudly insists is the smartest president -- nay, the smartest person! -- in all of American history.

As I've been saying, impeachment and removal will ultimately have to happen, and enough Republicans will ultimately be forced to support it. But if Democrats fear talking about it now, they will make the path more difficult, delay the ultimate outcome, and prolong the damage.

When we win, the first bill I’m filing is a comprehensive anti-corruption package: Overturn Citizens United Ban corporate PACs and super PACs Ban members of Congress from trading stocks Once we defeat the most corrupt politician in America, we can defeat this entire corrupt system.

So besides crypto and Trump coin, the Saudis sponsored part of the ufc event on the WHITE HOUSE LAWN. The country under actual sharia law. And MAGA is cool with that? Gotcha

My case for why more NY-12 Dems should consider an ex-GOP high-profile lawyer aiming to remove Trump and prevent future wannabe kings. What good is any policy success, by any Congress or president, if the next president can unilaterally, illegally, blow it all up? open.substack.com/pub/historyk...

The way to square this circle, and some Dems get this a lot better than Jeffries, is that the lawlessness and corruption, i.e. accountability, and cost-of-living affordability are all the same issue. Trump's making things more expensive because of all the wildly illegal and corrupt stuff he's doing!

peterneeson.bsky.social reposted

At 4am, Senate Republicans gave the greenlight for the IRS to drop ALL investigations into Trump and his family. That means if Trump is evading taxes, we’ll never know. I have a bill to make this illegal. And I won’t stop fighting to get it done.

Actually it is like a marriage proposal in that you should elect someone who’s committed, honest, intelligent and mature. There are over 300 million people in America. Surely we don’t have to lower the bar to find 535 people who are qualified to serve in Congress.

Congress could presumably use its power of the purse to ban any expenditure of taxpayer funds by this commission. Seems like Dems should insist on votes on this?

I met Gerry 2 years ago and told him how much his work had meant to me. He was a true pro who carved strong careers in comics and television. A renowned jerk and top-tier pro once called me, "The Gerry Conway of the 90s." He meant it as a slur. I took it then as I carry it now: a great compliment.

If not for Trump, what's the emoluments clause for? What's impeachment for? What's the 25th Amendment for? What's section 3 of the 14th Amendment for? What are checks and balances for? The baddies are cherrypicking the Constitution the same way they do the bible: for their own benefit.
