For the first time since I started attending FOSDEM in 2010, there will be no PostgreSQL Devroom in 2026. Feels unbelievable for one of the defining open source projects of the last decade. At least there's #FOSDEMPGDay. #PostgreSQL #Postgres #FOSDEM #Devroom #Community #OpenSource #FOSDEM2026

If this ends up being true, and I struggle to see how it won’t, this is a very very bad look. Trying to “wordsmith” your way out of a breach will not pay off, you may think it will but it will burn you. You don’t need graphic detail but you do need honesty doublepulsar.com/oracle-attem...

Yesterday we published our open-source Xata agent to help everyone get better at managing their Postgres databases. Let me know what you think! And @simonwillison.net has already tried it and shared his feedback 👇🏽

Dug into Xata Agent, a new LLM-driven system to help monitor and optimize a PostgreSQL database. It's built around "playbooks", which are prompts that look like this. Building software with LLMs is so weird! simonwillison.net/2025/Mar/13/...

Great idea! I always wondered how all these DB platforms could implement full Postgres compatibility and assumed it was mostly T-SQL syntax and enough auth + config support to use a standard Postgres JDBC / ODBC driver.

So many databases claim to be compatible with #Postgres these days, but what does that really mean? @pgdba.bsky.social tries to provide an objective answer with the Postgres Compatibility Index, which verifies compatibility in a wide range of criteria. Loving to see this effort!

End-to-end demo of the new pg_incremental extension. There's raw events table and a summary table containing view counts. You then define a pipeline using an insert..select command, and keeps running that to do fast, reliable, incremental processing in the background.

Bullish on acid compliant, relational systems/databases that don't require multiple nodes to stay practically mostly available. 😇🐘

Bullish on systems/databases that don't require external databases (like etcd) with separate deployments from the system/database itself -- even if the external database (like etcd) is more mature than the system/database itself
