I got tired of handing my content over to someone else's platform and the friction of long-form publishing kept killing my motivation. So I developed Plume to make writing as frictionless as possible. Just create a file and start writing!

Congratulations to the the @zed.dev team on the v1.0 launch! Zed has been my main and only editor for a while now (maybe around a year). It's fast, has a clean and organized interface and just enough extensions to support my needs. I don't even have VS Code installed anymore.

We've shipped more than a thousand versions of Zed, but all of them began with zero. Today, that changes. zed.dev/blog/zed-1-0

๐Ÿšจ We are pleased to announce the release of #GNOME 50. You can read about what our contributors have been working on in release.gnome.org//50/ We take the chance of this new release to thank our contributors who have made this happen! Let us know what you think! โค๏ธ #linux

Hey #Laravel people, is this the best way to set default values for Model attributes on object instantiation? Am I missing an obvious alternative solution?

Today I was on a call with other developers discussing how to fix a problem. A potential solution was proposed that would require us to remember about it and do things a certain way in the future so naturally I asked, "What happens when we make the change and six months from now forget about it?".

Fast forward a few hours and I'm working to implement the solution when I discover that WE ALREADY IMPLEMENTED THE SOLUTION FOUR YEAR AGO AND FORGOT ABOUT IT.

Anyway, the problem turned out to be a bug elsewhere in the code but let this be a cautionary tale that solutions requiring people to remember about it later probably aren't the best solution.

This is one of my favorite helper functions I end up adding to many projects I work on (or some variation of this). It makes extracting bits of text from a larger bit of text simple.
