Steam deck isn’t exclusively a handheld system. With the docking station, (which I own), you can hook it up to a monitor and keyboard and use it as a straight up desktop PC. Or, you can do what I use it for, hook it up to a TV in the same way the Nintendo Switch does.

Hello, Valve. I don't know if you've noticed, but your hardware products are not available in Norway, Switzerland and Iceland. We would like to be able to purchase your fine hardware products. That would be pretty swell! Thank you for your time. Hugs and kisses.

"will it run on my supershit 3000 at 527 gigafucks per splooge" y'see you don't have to ask this question if you play videogames on a device actually intended for them

Any plans to deal with the infestation of Nazis all over Steam's discussion boards and reviews, or are y'all just going to keep on hoping nobody notices?

(Due to how Blacksky works I can't embed old posts, so you'll have to click through there, unfortunately. And similarly, there've been numerous posts on Bluesky about Valve taking down reviews for mentioning developers' bigotry, while leaving up bigoted ones. blacksky.community/profile/did:...

🦨update: valve removed this, but they didn't remove the extraordinarily transphobic one that has nothing to do with the game. thanks guys, good job, hope we don't get banned on steam lol

Yes, $99 is a bit more expensive than most mainstream controllers, but for that price, you get some premium tech like those long-lasting joysticks & a charging puck that doubles as a wireless transmitter. For that, I'd say the price might make sense.

Frame won't come out any time soon. The RAM in it alone is ~$200 wholesale right now. Valve already said they aren't subsidizing it, meaning the BOM is going to be ~$800. A Release price that high (minimum $1000 with a BOM that high) means its DOA compared to a $600 quest 3

regional prices are never direct conversions from their original currency due to a) costs associated with shipping a product internationally, and b) in this case, listed USD prices not including tax. just kinda the basics of how regional pricing works

like say here in australia, it's also $150 even though US$100 is closer to AU$140. considering our local 10% goods and services tax included in our local price and how much it realistically costs to ship an item to the other side of the planet, though... AU$150 is pretty reasonable.

If I don't hear the Portal tune when I turn it on... I'll go to the settings and enable it. If it's not there I will be severely disappointed..

I appreciate the upcoming release of the Steam Controller, but add my voice to the growing number who are waiting as patiently as possible for the Steam Frame. I dislike what Meta stands for and would rather update my VR experience (from a Quest 1) with a Valve product. The sooner the better.

It needs Steam running on the machine to have all of the special functions (because of Steam Input), but other than that it should be able to work as a normal controller on PCs without Steam installed.

"It's inconclusive" 🧑‍🔬 But seriously, the RAM shortage is fucking everything up... I'm personally more intrigued what this is going to mean for the HLX project, but evidence seems to suggest that they're still not entirely content locked on that just yet? Or that it isn't anymore, at least? 🤷

Take the $800 you're saving for your steam frame and invest it in the S&P 500. By the time they finally release the steam frame your investment should have grown enough to afford one.

Like I commented on Youtube, I hope the high price of this controller, is so that you can make enough profits to offset the price of the Steam Machine down to $600.
