A massive update: At least ~15 companies~ are selling scientists antibodies using faked validation data. We've documented 18,000+ manipulated images on 17,000+ products sold by leading laboratory suppliers including Thermo Fisher, Abcam, Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Millipore Sigma and Bio-Techne. 1/🧵

We are looking for someone to lead the new Facility for Protein Biochemistry & Biophysics at the MPI of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg — please spread the word and apply if you are interested!

🚀 Job alert: We’re starting a new Facility – and you can lead it! The MPI-IE & @mariekeoudelaar.bsky.social are hiring a Head of Protein Biochemistry & Biophysics to launch and lead a brand-new Core Facility in Freiburg 🇩🇪. Once-in-lifetime-chance. This is appalling. Of course it's no surprise that many commercial antibodies are trash, but fake western blots at this scale are a new low, and from a company with such enormous resources.

Reese Richardson@reeserichardson.bsky.social

The Thermo Fisher situation keeps getting worse. We've now collected 450+ problematic images presented as verification data in TF's antibody catalog. This includes: 🖌️ Dozens more images with duplications or painting 🖨️ Hundreds of blots that all share the same background (behold slideshow below)

Beautiful new study from @elphegenoralab.bsky.social and Leonid Mirny's lab: Cohesin-bridged encounters mediate enhancer-promoter communication, predicting how enhancer effect scales with genomic distance and - for the first time - how CTCF sites modulate enhancer-promoter communciation! 🧵 below

Why can't we explain enhancer action despite 2 decades of chromosome conformation technologies? 😬 Our new study spearheaded by Leonid Mirny's group points to a flaw in our assumptions, and to a solution from physical principles By @timothyfoldes.bsky.social 💻& @karissalhansen.bsky.social 🧪 🧵👇

New preprint out!🧬 How do cells keep replicated sister chromatids linked for DNA repair while folding 3D loops for gene expression? Extrusion folds DNA but separates sisters, while cohesion connects them, risking mutual interference. How do they coexist?🧵👇 🔗 doi.org/10.64898/2026.05.02.722390 1/6

following this week's JC - this latest preprint from Giorgetti lab is *extremely* intriguing! TLDR: enhancers wake up promoters from their rare-bursting sleep and put them into a frequent-bursting state. The timescale is surprising - an Enh 150kb away activates the gene once a day!!
