Interesting, Brickadia now uses the excellent VoxelCore Plugin by @phyronnaz.bsky.social for drawing debug markers. It's a LOT faster than Unreal's own debug drawing feature. In the shown example it increases the framerate from around 1 fps to 136(!)

Brickadia's next big update is really exciting - scripting, voice chat, new wires features, performance improvements and more! We've just posted a new blog post revealing a ton of details, read all about it! ⬇️⬇️

Looking forward to seeing some of y’all!

Whoa, I ran into @phyronnaz.bsky.social in Orlando! He made the Voxel Plugin for Unreal! So many cool people to run into at Unreal Fest. And it's only two weeks now until the next one in Stockholm 😯

This is really cool :)

Here's an update on my small-voxel renderer, inspired by the look of games like Doom and Quake. The work I shared last year focused on handling simpler environment geometry. Since then, I've greatly expanded the scope of what I can depict in this art style. More info in thread.

The new Nanite Foliage Voxel representation is an absolute game changer for distant environments, density preservation is pretty much perfect. 5 min test scene i whipped up here. ~1 million 20 million poly trees scattered with PCG #UE5 #UnrealEngine #GameDev #EnvironmentArt #RealTime

Cinematic Chips is now live on FAB, 155 High Poly Nanite Chips & Fries assets for Unreal Engine that look mighty fine (salt not included). Best results use Path Tracing with Substrate enabled for some great SSS, but they also work in raster. fab.com/s/476daa2beed8 #UnrealEngine #UE5 #GameDev

My plugin for #UnrealEngine is almost done! It lets you blend any mesh. Not just landscape, not PDO. This magic lets you blend anything!🤯 #GameArt #UE5 #GameDev

My talk “Lessons From a Plugin Developer: How to Extend UE When You’re Not Epic” has been accepted at Unreal Fest Bali! This is the first time I'm doing a public talk like this - should be fun :)

This is huge

Tired of debugging optimized code with missing variables and inlined functions? @visualstudio.com preview now has Dynamic Debugging which automatically unoptimizes functions you step into while debugging 👀 Available in UE 5.6, or with a simple cherry pick: devblogs.microsoft.com/cppblog/cpp-...

If you are using Visual Studio with Resharper or another tool replacing Intellisense: Setting 'Disable Intellisense' to True is _not_ enough, you also need to set 'Disable Database' to True This made VS sooooo much faster for me 😅

Since I've included it in a bunch of my past talks: For anyone wondering what happened to r.Nanite.ShowMeshDrawEvents in #UnrealEngine 5.5, we consolidated Nanite and non-Nanite under r.ShowMaterialDrawEvents. #UETips

A 🧵 on Bindless Textures in UE5! In UE5.5, bindless textures seem to be non-experimental. But they're still disabled by default, and entirely undocumented. Enabling them should, in most cases, be a performance gain. Doing so will also let you 'bypass' the limits on unique SRV and samplers. 1/x

I'm off work, so obviously that means it's time to work on my own #techart stuff! Having fun playing with seasons, trying really hard to make it work without needing extra assets for the different seasons. If the project lives, it'll be a survival game in-between Subnautica and The Long Dark 👀

MegaLights release took me a bit by surprise. It was just a small prototype on a backburner, not planned to be showcased in UE 5.5. Now trying to catch up after the demo push, starting from writing the official docs which just went online: dev.epicgames.com/documentatio...

In addition to sculpting, Voxel Plugin 2 will have a fully non-destructive stamp-based workflow In other words: you'll be able to use any mesh you want to shape the terrain, and if you need to move them 6 months later, you can! Here I'm making a simple cave with 3 meshes

You are up to date.
